  1. :happy088: Kerry- @Mr. Shaverman says he thinks that La Toja performs similarly to Tabac. I haven't tried Tabac, so I hope you can check that out!
  2. Proraso green preshave
    TSD vanilla with 2x menthol
Xtg / atg 2 pass shave with the ball end Tech
More Proraso green preshave as a balm
Alcolado aftershave bombed for an eye watering menthol rush

Got a little rushed this morning and actually nicked my chin a bit. The Styptic pen is not lonely any more. Other than that, no irritation, But I still need a lot of touchup with the Tech. I will work on technique, but am starting to think that I just need a more aggressive razor. I'love know by the end of the month.

Quick thought, maybe I'll try a traditional 3 pass shave tomorrow to see if that helps...

  5. Day 6 - SEptember 2015

    30 Days with a Schick G

    image.jpg
Back for Day 6. New blade today and I could tell it was gonna be a good one. The key to the G (and every possibly every razor) is shallow angle and appropriate pressure. The picture is either a bit unfocused, or I need to try sleep instead of Red Bull and Waffle House. Caught a quadruple play--Shave Den Sunday, SEptember and 30 Days with a Schick G, and the SOTD. TSD kept it super frosty, the two pass was automatic, and I hope to write more in detail and catch up on the pages from late Friday through Sunday. Other than Happy Labor Day...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a sterling Monday!

  7. That was my first Bama football game in years. It was so amazing to walk around a place filled with people from home. I feel really blessed to be able to have seen it all up close again. However, after hearing the 1000th person say "y'all" and "Rooooolllll Tide" in that familiar accent, a distinct barbecue craving set in.

  8. Sounds like it was a great time Chris and well worth the wait. Glad you and Mrs. S enjoyed the entire trip.

  9. Great thread and very nice idea to focus on one or the other aspect of wet shaving. My focus this month will be on shave creams, as I have currently 2 (Jack Black Triple Cushion and Logona mann) which both do not get enough love and attention, they truly deserve better.
So, the one I will be focusing on this month is Jack's. It's going to be triple cushion day every day of the work week, YAY! I like the scent of the cream but feel that I have not reached it's peak in terms of lather, I will be experimenting with water quantities this month.
Plus I have recently received several new shave soaps and will receive shortly some more, so need to make room in the den, so this helps
  10. Because the Twin Injector blade tends to be a "rare bird" in the overall traditional shaving realm we will treat them as SEs as well because it behaves like an amplified single edge rather than two distinct blades.
  11. I most definitely will keep that in mind. Will report back.
  12. September 7

Batch 2 Mongoose with Dr. Bomber handle
    Feather Professional blade (2)
    Shavemac two-band silvertip brush
    Trumper's Coconut cream and glycerin
    Two passes plus touch-ups
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food

    Blade aligned. Check.
Top and bottom plates on razor head aligned. Check.
    Neal is not present. Check.
    Ready to shave.

I enjoyed a very close, comfortable, and relaxing two-pass shave this morning with the Mongoose. I hope you all did as well. Have a blessed Labor Day!

  13. SOTD
    September 7,2015
Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Energizing Face Wash Boost. TSE Shaving Oil
Razor: Mongoose B3 Dr. Bomber Handle
    Blade: Feather Super Pro
Brush: Red & Black Acrylic Silvertip 22/50mm
Lather: The Soap Exchange Barber Shoppe
Post: Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate
    Aftershave: Fine American Blend
Wonderful shave. The Feather Super Pro blades are really sharp and smooth. The Soap Exchange Barber Shoppe, possibly one of the slickest soaps I've used, fantastic post shave and scent, my lather was a bit on the thin side, but it didn't take away from the way the soap protected and performed. What would I change? The label is not water proof, we live in a visual SOTD world where most wet shavers are going to judge a product on its packaging first. Would I buy this soap? Absolutely YES! I'm going to be using TSE Barber Shoppe soap/oil exclusively for my head shaves.

Razor – Mongoose B2 with Jürgen Hempel Ti
    Blade – Feather Pro (3)
Brush – Rubberset 400-3 with WSP HMW
    Lather – B&M Seville
Post - Witch Hazel and Myrsol F/Extra

Another fantastic 3 pass BBS shave this morning. It's close but the Mongoose edges out the Wolfman in how long a great shave lasts. Things will shift even further towards the Mongoose when I load a Super Pro blade. I think I am going to alter the September focus at this point and stay with the Mongoose for the remainder of the month. I will throw in some vintage SE razors for some weekend shaves. I will pick up the Wolfman OC for OC October.

It has been awhile since I used the B&M Seville soap. I love the citrus barber shop scent and the performance is top notch. Finished off with a splash of Myrsol F/Extra.

  15. Heckuva nice bloom on that brush Clin!
  16. Thank you. This one is a lather monster for sure.
  17. Clint, that is a beautiful brush. Is it the "Ocho" that you restored for Mark?
  18. Thanks Gary! I wasn't exactly sure about his and am glad you cleared it up for us.

    SEptember Focus Day 7:

    Homemade PS Oil
    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    Stirling Frozen Tundra
    Injector Type G
    Osage Rub
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Aqua Velva AS

Another good shave with the Injector this morning, and it was made better by shaving with my son. I am still getting a little irritation on my neck, and I had some redness there as well. I think I am off a bit on my angles when doing my ATG pass on my neck. I'll keep working at it.
