Working on learning the ways of the OCMM. Second consecutive shave with it - fourth overall. No nicks, a few reopened small cuts from yesterday and no irritation. When I can feel the top of the contoured head gliding against my skin and hear it cutting my stubble at the same time I know I have the angle right. Now, if I can just do that consistently and then automatically...

  6. No I used it once before a few months ago. But I have to say it is really opening my eyes to injectors.

  11. September 7, 2015 - Labor Day

    Single-Edge SEptember
    Injectors and perhaps a GEM

This month marks my first shaves with injectors. In the first week of SEptember I had 6 great shaves with Schick injectors: a J3 "Golden 500"; an I2 - another hydro-magic Schick; and a G series. All gave excellent shaves and cause me to want to assess them again during a longer time period someday soon.

Next up is a Canadian-made Schick believed to be an E series (E2) and on the more aggressive side than my first three.

    Mid-morning shave, with two-day growth.
    Hot Shower
    Soap: Proraso Green
    Brush: Omega Pro 48
Razor: Schick Type E - Canada
    Blade: Schick Injector (China) (1)
    TSD Witch Hazel
    Aftershave Cream: Proraso
    After Shave: Proraso Green

I was a bit apprehensive stepping up to the plate for this one as I was warned that I'm about to move upon the aggressiveness scale for Schick injectors.

Evidently, the week I just spent with some of the milder versions prepared me well for today. The first pass did a decent (not stellar) job of whisker reduction, but the second (ATG) pass and a minor touch-up, left me smooth with a great shave, similar to all the injectors I've done this month.

This is such a beautiful, handsome razor (thanks @Omaney )that I'm going to spend a full week with it and get to see how I can improve the experience. I know, I said I just got a great shave, but I'm gonna experiment to try and realize it's full potential.

First, I'm going to switch my first pass to a XTG and see if that reduces growth better than a WTG and thereby set up the ATG for a even smoother last pass. And as usual, keep up the hunt for the best cutting angle. Right now I'm starting the stroke just a few degrees from flush with the head.

Hope you're all having a great Labor Day weekend - brought to you by the folks who established the weekend!

    Cheers!
    RT

ps - to @GDCarrington ! I shaved today (volume down low) to your tune.
Thanks for remembering Santo and Johnny!

  13. Today was day two with the Schick Model B and I have to say it's fun to shave with this thing. I love the feel of the big square handle and it shaves nicely. I find it mild and don't get a BBS with it but will keep it in the lineup just because I like it.

  18. Had my first shave with micromatic, Saturday. I thought I was watching my angle but definitely wasn't shallow enough. Couple minor nicks and some irritation in the jawline and throat. Darn close shave though. Shaved with it again this morning and did much better but I can see that the throat area is going to be a problem. I really found I have to go slow and let the razor do the work.
