That's exactly the feedback I am looking for! It caught my eye as a unique product, but was unsure of what to expect.
It did taste like a very good cigar. My thing is if I want a cigar, I'll buy a cigar. I don't have to clean that after.
Hmm .... Perusing the internet, I see black super glue has been used to repair holes and build up vulcanite stems. It may be worth a shot if I can find some black super glue.
Are they holes or just big teeth marks? If it's teeth marks just put a softy bit on it. Will cover the marks and keep you from making them any deeper.
The problem is the need to get a good tenon fit to,the shank, but also the outside diameter of the stem to the outside diameter of the shank. I guess the stem having a slightly smaller diameter than the shank would be preferable to the other way around. I used a MM unfiltered stem as a replacement on one of my early pipes that had the stem break somewhere. Tenon fit was exact, but the outside was smaller than the shank OD. Looks a little weird but works. The only problem is the interior of the MM tenon is larger than most vulcanite stems, and you get a lot more smoke pulled through.
I don't think the shank OD will be much of an issue in this case, as long as the base is flush. The stem has a much smaller OD than the shank.
I would suggest contacting these folks. They say each stem is made to order, so maybe they would make a stem with your tenon specifications. http://oldlogcabinpipeworks.com
Maybe, but it looks like they only make one size currently, to fit the MM filtered pipes. I ordered some black rubberized cyanoacrylate that will take a week to be delivered. I'm curious to see how it does.
I haven't yet tried it; but have had a great interest in it since seeing it in a P&C catalogue, but it was out of stock for so long and sadly, the price is too high in my opinion. So, I contacted Vincent Manil and we actually struck up a conversation. He is going to let me know if shipping direct to customers in the US is workable, but he doesn't forsee much of a problem with it. And he sells a half pound for $25. And once he know the shipping situation, he is going to see about shipping me a brick to try. I'll letcha know how it goes and ship some out for ya if I get a brick.
