    further to my previous post,

the fat boy felt awesome in the hand, weight and size. first pass at setting 3 (cautious)
the WS stick lathered up in no time, really slick and skin felt good afterwards. nice scent too.

ive found the GSB's work well in my red tip, my muhle R89 and now the fat boy. I find the same with Polsilver SI and Personna Israeli Red, but the GSB's are just a bit better. They were my first 100 blade purchase because of this.

I am about to start my Monday shave. I know its almost 1am on Tuesday but I work nights so its still my Monday. I had to switch shifts at work tonight because of some breathing issues so I'll take it slow and switch things up with my first cheater day of SEptember. I'm still technically useing a single edge razor since I'm going to use my Chinese unbranded shavette with a Wilkinson sword blade half in it. I have some time so I'll very carefully be working on technique during this shave. I'm very out of practice with a straight razor like object so I'll be working on switching hands for the other side of my face and also keeping my angles consistent for cross grain and against the grain passes. If the shave is nice I may not do the ATG pass. If I don't feel up to the ATG pass I'll just do another XTG going the other direction. My goal today is to savor the ritua, relax and, perfect technique since I'm having breathing problems. I'll lather up with Proraso Red in a tub and my Semogue Boar brush and finish up with Nivea Sensitive post shave balm. I'll come back with a shave report in an hour or so.

EDIT: My breathing issues have drawn first blood. I choked and gasped and coughed and wasn't able to get the razor away from my face fast enough and cut a nice clean cut on my chin on the last stoke of the first WTG pass. I'm going to switch back to my Schick G1 for the next 2 passes and wait for my shavette until my Breathing issues have straightened out. I also have decided to bowl lather the Proraso for the first time and I was met with my Old Spice mug full of soft creamy lather. I have missed out on lather this light and soft by face lathering. As the styptic has now stopped the bleeding I'm going to move on to the Schick now.

Edit 2: I had a bad blade on the schick today. It was fine for the last 2 days but today it refused to cut hair on its first pass so I changed it out and shaved 2 more. I don't know if I was just having an off day or what happened but I Still after 4 passes didn't get a good shave. I had a few nicks and weepers and a ton of irritation. After the 4th pass I gave up today and I may end up needing to let myself heal up tomorrow. The only good thing to come out of my shave today was that now I know how nice bowl lathering Proraso can be and, My styptic was a $1.28 well spent. The Proraso lather seemed neverending. I shaved 4 passes and the bowl was still full and the brush was still full. I only loaded up the same amount of soap on the brush to start with but facelathering with it I have maybe 4 passes before I need to reload but bowl lathering today I had enough lather to shave 2 or 3 more faces after I was done with 4 passes. I think I still prefer the thicker lather I get from face lathering but on an easier razor I may still bowl lather every now and then just for the sheer volume of lather I created.

    Amazing is the Point
I used Reef Point soap today - truly an unsung hero in the shaving world. These soaps make optimal lather very quickly, and provide great post shave feel. Der Vorschlaghammer did its duty with comfortable efficiency as usual. I finished with HTGAM Gondolier balm and cologne, which compliment the RP Test Depth scent very nicely. feel and smell great.

    Prep: Van Yulay PSO
    Soap: Reef Point Test Depth
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: Der Vorschlaghammer
    Blade: Voskhod (2)
AS: HTGAM Gondolier balm and cologne

I feel like I have a built-in air conditioner in my face after shaving with the Glacial Spearmint soap and using the Glacial Wintergreen balm and witch hazel. What a wonderful, frigid shave this was!
