SE Shaving Insights Razor: Eversharp-Schick Model G8 Blade: Schick Brush: Semogue 1320 Soap: Stirling Margaritas in the Artic AS: Aqua Velva After a week of ho-hum shaves with Schick Model J I decided to switch to my G8. I would not have imagined how different the Schick Model G would be from the Schick Model J injector. I had heard that the Model G was more aggressive and I hoped it would be after the very mild Model J. I was not disappointed! The feedback was the same, but I could feel the blade easier, or at least I was more aware of the presence of the blade. The angle seemed easier to find, which seems silly since the head appears almost identical to the Model J. I've held the two razors beside each other and really don't see any significant difference. But there obviously IS a difference. The Model G is a much better, much more efficient razor IMO. Though today's shave was a bit rushed due to a family issue it was still a terrific shave. It was smooth, comfortable and very close. A bit of feedback from the alum, but no big deal. It's 10:00 PM and I could go to work like this and nobody would notice anything. I've been "faceturbating" all day! (Hope I don't go blind!) Can't wait until tomorrow! (Anybody need a slightly used Model J? )

A BBS on three passes with shower and clean up in the morning. With the Paladin the Tabac soaped easily into a thick, slick, and creamy lather. Mongoose needed a blade change after the first pass. Finished this morning with a generous enough dousing of Tabac Aftershave. Next stop Chicago Midway. Have a great Wednesday gentlemen.
9/8/2015 Single Edge September / Tobacco Tuesday! Prep: Hot shower with Neutrogena Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO Razor: GEM Micro Matic Clog Pruf, H. Boker Master Razor straight razor Blade: Gem PTFE coated SE blade (7) Brush: Vie Long Horse Hair Soap: RazoRock - Tobacco #1 After: Home made ASB, Aqua Velva Ice Blue Cologne: Aqua H2O It is Tobacco Tuesday! The Vie Long brush whipped the Tobacco #1 into a nice lather. The Clog Pruf paired with the GEM blade and the Boker did a great job taking down the 3 days worth of stubble. The AV and the Aqua H2O were a fine finish for this almost BBS shave. Have a blessed day!
Today I moved from Injectors to single edge Gem type razors. I started out with my Gem Micromatic Open Comb razor and a new Gem blade. I lathered up with TOBS Grapefruit cream and got started. My initial impression was good as I liked the feedback from the blade. I started out with the razor flat on my face and tipped it until I could hear the blade and proceeded to shave. By the finish of the WTG pass I had a couple of weepers. I lathered again and went ATG for pass two. By the end of the second pass I was a bloody mess. I had at least six small and one large weeper. I’m not sure what happened as this is my first experience with this particular razor. I tried to use light pressure and just enough angle to cut. Can any of you experienced Gem guys tell me what I might be doing wrong? SOTD Gem Micromatic Open Comb Gem blade (1) TOBS Grapefruit cream AOS AS Balm Florida Water AS Thanks and have fun!
September 8, 2015 Morning shave Hot Shower Soap: Proraso Green Brush: Omega Pro 48 Razor: Schick Type E - Canada Blade: Schick Injector (China) (2) TSD Witch Hazel Aftershave Cream: Proraso After Shave: Proraso Green Second shave of the week with the Type E. I will shave the rest of the week with it. I want to get to know this one better because my first impression is, that with a little work on my part, it could become a regular BBS shave and deserve to be and everyday razor. Time will tell. My experiment will begin by switch my first pass from WTG to XTG. I want to see if that reduces growth better than a WTG It should right?!) and thereby set up the ATG for a more efficient and smoother last pass. I’m certain I could get BBS with WTG/ATG, but it may require more repeat strokes and touch-ups.Also, and as usual, I’ll keep up the hunt for the best cutting angle. Right now I'm starting the stroke just a few degrees from flush with the head. Shave was excellent, with few repeat strokes. If anyone is familiar with Canadian Schicks I sure would appreciate help in definitively identifying this razor. I believe it to be an E but have some doubts. And as always, I continue to solicit and appreciate all the enthusiastic advice to help me improve my shave! Cheers! RT
