    Jayaruh #1 Silver Tip
    Schick J2
    Personna SS
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Aqua Velva

The C.O. Bigelow Shave Cream face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #1 Silver Tip Badger brush. Two passes with my Schick J2 razor and a Personna SS Injector blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Dovo Shavette loaded with a Lord Super

Warm towel prep, and a face wash. I used another warm towel to wipe the face soap off and then oiled up. I went a little dry on the lather today, and it was my first try with the Lord Super. I'm not sure which one did the trick, but I had one smooth shave this evening. Only two passes, with and against. I finished with another face wash and a cold towel rinse followed by the aftershave balm. Now time for some wine!

The green towel is adding some color to the normally clear, amber tint of the CSR

The spray bottles make witch hazels and after shaves last a long time.

Razor - 1959 Gillette Ball End Tech
    Blade - gillette-super-thin-platinum.jpg (1)
    Brush - VDH Boar
    Soap - Proraso
Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea

It's Friday! Time for Crazy Ivan to pick up a DE and an unknown blade and shave away! So, let's break out the mild '59 Ball End Tech and load up a Gillette blade. the Gillette Super Thin. There are two of these available, one made in Thailand and the one I'm using today....made in Vietnam. Nothing like trying a new blade made somewhere you never thought of blades being made. I did notice, however, that some Dorco blades have been attributed to a manufacturer in Vietnam, but now say Korea again. We'll see how a Vietnamese Gillette blade does.

I chose the VDH Boar brush today largely because it's still my favorite cheap brush. Doesn't shed, has a great bloom on it and just does a fantastic job, especially considering it was part of the deluxe kit. Bowl, brush, soap for twelve bucks or so, and the brush is my every week head shave brush. I'll show it some love with Proraso for my shave today. Great lather as always with Proraso and the brush is no slouch.

First pass WTG and I can say one thing for certain.....this isn't a Chinese blade. Nope, it's definitely higher quality. It's Platinum which means I may not have the best shave with it since Gillette Platinums aren't my favorite no matter where they come from, well except the Super Platinum blue NOS from St. Pete's. Nice first pass though, with a good feel to it and good result. The mild Tech keeps it from getting out of control and the XTG second pass is a good pass as well. In fact I got to DFS on the second pass so ended it there with only minor burn from the Alum.

After one day I'd have to put this blade alongside the Gillette's from India in my experience. It's not up to the St. Petersburg standard but not a horrible choice either. Apparently Gillette either has their own plant in Vietnam or they oversee the QC in whatever company actually makes them for them. If you are a Gillette fan, and especially of the Super Thin branding you might give this blade a try.

    Schick Krona DE razor
    Rapira Platinum Lux blade
    Omega Hi-Brush synthetic
    TFS Barba Gialla soap
    RE-WE aftershave balm
    Davidoff Cool Water EdC

I think this was the eight or ninth shave with the Rapira blade; it has lost some of its sharpness by now, but will be good for one more day.

Been using my new shiny 39c exclusively for the last couple weeks, starting to get the hang of using it without cutting myself. The baby butt smooth results it gives are worth the trouble! The feather combo is a good one, sounds dangerous but works great. This razor is quickly becoming my favorite all time razor. Great heft, aggressive shave, smooth results.
