Got in 2 packages today. One was my cream samples from TSD shop, thank you @Queen of Blades. I also got a Gem micromatic bullet tip. It's pretty. It also came with 8 blades. Thank you @clint64. I like the scent of all these creams. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. I wont use them this month but I may rotate through them next month as I figure out my tech razors. The Gem will be used starting the 16th as part of SEptember. I'm excited to try it but I know I need to give the injector its time before moving on. This is the first razor I haven't had to scrub off decades of filth. It's very nice. I've read that this is one of the mildest Gems so maybe I wont make mince meat out of my face with it. That wide blade is a bit intimidating.
I am glad the package made it safely. Those blades are carbon GEM blades so be sure not to store the razor with the used blades inside.
What we are seeing is just the tip of the iceberg. I just read 6 articles about USPS delays and frankly it's alarming. HERE is one.
Was down to half a bar when I lucked out and noticed that Mike had just added some shampoo bars. Ordered three and received them today. Hands down, so far, my most favorite shampoo - bar or not - and have been using them almost exclusively for about a year now.
I put one in it trying out the mechanism but ill pull it out and dry it everytime I use it. It's really an attractive razor.
Received this unused Seaforth Heather 'n Fern shaving mug with soap. It was smaller than I had pictured it to be - here it is next to a Gillette Fatboy to provide a sense of scale. I love that the original, untouched soap is still in the mug. It even has has the paper-and-plastic cover ...but the 'best' thing is that the soap still has a very noticeable Fern scent Now the only question is...to use or to display....
Awesome! I have a Seaforth mug but obviously not is near as good condition. I also have a "men's cologne" jug. It's a hard call for me whether to use the soap... But personally, knowing what I do about the Seaforth mugs, I wouldn't due to the emblems "washing off" unlike the OS mugs. Actually thinking back as I type this, your mug looked more like glass than ceramic, like mine, so you may be good to use it.
Thanks, I think they came out in various models and scent. Not counting the bottles, only the mugs, I've seen them with; - Heather 'n Fern, - "For Men" (two different models), - "Heather" with all green text, Some has a brown inside..some brown on the top rim of the mug..and some no brown paint at all. Here's some random trivia I found online: Seaforth Men's Toiletries was the brand name of the Alfred D. McKelvey Co. founded in 1939. Alfred D. McKelvey was of Scots origin, born and raised in Manhattan. It was the first North American company to mass market (advertise) men's toiletries. It was so successful that the Vick Chemical Co. (Vicks Vaporub) purchased Seaforth for big dollars in 1942. Vick Chemical placed Seaforth under the umbrella of their Prince Matchabelli perfume division. The Prince Matchabelli division (including Seaforth) was sold to Cheseborough-Ponds in 1958. Unilever Corporation acquired Cheseborough-Ponds in 1987 and did away with many of the old lines, including Seaforth."
Here are mine again, just for comparison. I just noticed the lighting on the mug makes it look in better shape than it is. Color is the same speckle as the jug.
Nice! I'm almost thinking yours is an early/older model maybe. I really like the size and look of these guys.
I hauled the g in d tuckaway as a bonus there were five or six blades in the case. one of them is a persona 74.
they look like unused, most are wrapped. a few are loose, but look unused. I would definitely dispose of used blades.
Well since everyone is posting their Seaforth stuff, I'll post mine too. These actually came in the same day as the Kent V6, but I wasn't as excited about them. ...and yeah, smaller than expected. Edit: don't try to preserve the labels. I read on one of the forums that someone tried using clear nail polish to protect the lettering, and it caused the lettering to melt and run down the side of the mug. The labels are probably some type of acetate transfer print.
Got a small battered package from Manuel aka Jabonman in far far away Barcelona with the new shave soaps I had ordered. The scent is nice and painfully tempting (since I am currently shaving under the 30-days-rule of 1 shave cream only for the month...)
