Day 12 - SEptember 2015 30 Days with a Schick G Last day of my three day soap trial, still pondering how I feel about it. The aggressive G mowed them down per usual...alum was a little hot, but no big deal. I heard it was football season. Other than that all is quiet in Colorado. Have a Super Sunday!
My oldest daughter is at Alabama so we are a house divided for sure. Besides you have nothing to fear with our coach.
September 13 Focus Shave 10 Started off with 3 passes that felt OK, but there was no blood so I decided to try ATG on my neck, ear to adams apple. I just can't find a way to do this pass. I can't get my neck to be flat in the plane of the pass. I was able to pull skin up and get the top part but that was it. I also did ATG on my chin and that was a success.Finished with some irritation and DFS. Well I seem to have you converted as my new Department of Information to pass that greeting along! Now, just finish with ".....a Russian blade from most glorious Motherland" and it will be perfect.
The Crazy Ivan in SEptember! September 12 Razor - 1959 Gillette Ball End Tech Blade - Brush - Omega Pro 48 Soap - Arko Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea Early Saturday morning due to monthly spiff meeting. Up an hour earlier than even an early Saturday and hit the shower to shave fast. Grabbed the Pro 48 and Arko to idiot proof the lather and did a two pass with the Tech and the Vietnamese Gillette to get a DFS. Not too much irritation, threw on the Nivea, grabbed extra coffee and out the door. You wish you could have my schedule don't you. Good shave again with this blade. Again, not on the par of a Russian Gillette but still not a bad shave at all. Man this thread is rocking it this month. Incredible number of posts to keep up with and I'm not keeping up all that well at the moment. Gonna set aside some time to catch up and really figure out who said what. Keep it up!
September 13 Mongoose with Dr. Bomber handle Feather Super Professional blade (1) Shavemac two-band silvertip brush TSD unscented soap and glycerin Two passes plus touch-ups Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food Hoowee! This was my first shave using the Feather Super Pro blade in the Mongoose. It most definitely provides a closer shave than the Feather Pro. The Mongoose provides the control and stability to get a fantastic shave even with a very aggressive blade. I will spend this week learning how to get the most out of this razor/blade combo, but first impressions are great. Have a blessed Sunday!
1953 (Y3) Tech Vulfix Super Badger (660) Proraso Sandalwood cream Aqua Velva Ice Blue Shave #3 with the Rapira Swedish Supersteel in my birthday Tech. A very comfortable BBS shave. Used about a 1/2 inch dollop of Proraso on each side of my neck and squeezed out the water from the Vulfix Super Badger brush, added a hand scoop of water, then did a face lather. I think adding the extra water early caused me to work longer to get a good lather. But in the end it was nice, and I had more than enough for the shave. 2 full passes: Pass 1 WTG on my face and XTG on my neck (straight down today). Pass 2: ATG. Very comfortable and close. Not as close at this point a yesterday, but still almost BBS. Did a cold water rinse and a minor touch up and caught the baby. The Aqua Velva was a little loud today, but quieted down pretty quickly. Another nice BBS shave from the Rapira Swedish Supersteel in the Tech. I'll do one more shave with the Rapira and then move on to the Gillette Silver Blue. Have a great Lord’s Day!
Day 5 of 7-day Test Drive of a Custom Mastro Livi No attempts at 'chasing the baby' early this morning! Just the typical 3-pass shave. that being said, it was still a close, near-BBS experience. Third day of using one of my favorite, but often neglected, soaps— L'Occitane Cade. I love both the scent and the performance. I've found the glide and cushion the Cade provides is ideal for shaves that utilize an aggressively sharp razor—such as this Damascus blade. Dragging a one-inch wide, three-inch long hunk of wickedly-sharp steel across one's face and throat give you a new appreciation for the comfort provided by a quality soap. Five down, two more to go!
SEptember Focus Day 13: Homemade PS Oil Stirling Synthetic Brush TSD Lavender Rose Wheat SC Injector Type G Stirling Unscented PSB Brut Classic AS I hit the last shave on this blade today. I had some tugging and a few nicks to go along with it. The nicks have led to a little irritation as well. I'll change out tomorrow. I am undecided if I am going with the Injector or a Gem tomorrow. Have a blessed Sunday.
09/13/2015 Razor – GEM 1912 Blade – GEM Stainless PTFE (5) Brush – Brothers Bristles with WD HM Lather – TSD Yin Yang Post - Witch Hazel and Fine L’Orange Another very good 3 pass shave this morning. The shave was much closer today as I got used to the 1912. I still have trouble using this razor just above and below my lips. I'm sure that these areas would be mastered if I used GEM razors more often. The TSD soap was easy to lathering and provided very good cushion and slickness. If you have not tried TSD shave soaps consider giving them a try. Finished off with a splash of Fine L'Orange.
