I went back to the FB since I had 3 great weeks with it just to find out I should have changed to a new blade. Ended with a decent shave but not a great shave.

Used the Dr. Jon's soap for the first time today. It's a very soft soap/cream. Looks grainy in the tin. Very nice lemon/citrus scent, cooling feel on the skin as I shaved. This is the softest soap I've used and wasn't sure how much I needed on the brush. As you can see the lather built nicely and fast.

Up at 4:00AM! Fried 3 Eggs:pot: in Olive & Grape Seed Oil, & made Toast; "AFTER" my :eatdrink013:Double-Cup of "Doughnut-Dark" from our Keurig. (So, I'm lazy!) Am Baking 'Country-White-Bread,' in my "SunBeam" Bread Maker! (Didn't feel like going to the grocery, for bread; because I was having my private :angelic007:Bible-Study, & it was too comforting, to me, to...leave it.) Let our dogs :chores016:out, & fed them, too! Oh, THAT smell from my:eatdrink020: breakfast got them going, EARLY. All the while I was 'planning-my-shaving-experience' for my "SUNDAY-SHAVE!" I bought a can of "Barbasol Beard Buster" with Aloe:happy069:, last week. Now, going-in, I consider my-self a "Brush Efficiencianado!" But the commentaries I've read in "Shave Den," somehow TEMPTED' me; after many years of brushing; for my shaves. I put the Barbasol to an extra-test :ahem:with my Fat Boy, using a 'once-used' blade; & dared it to come out GREAT! I used my hands to apply the suprizingly-THICK lather. And I did a "Double!" Not a Tripple; because I really wanted to 'Challenge Barbasol Shave Cream!' After I applied my "cheap" Pinaud Bay Rum; I took a walk around our house to let it dry. I came in & gently, with the back-hand-side of my fingers, flitted across the contours of my 72 year-old face & neck. :lyrtuy5:I was READY for a "Re-Shave!" But, as much as I enjoy shaving; I found no-need for a 3rd.:rolleyes005: pass;:happy036: today! Honestly; Barbasol-in-the-can gave me a 'glide path' I really didn't expect! It was a 'good-runway!':scared007: The $2.47 cents I spent served me as well as a similar priced "puck" of decent Shaving Soap! That was my "Sunday Shave!" (Happy Rosh Hashana, too; at Sundown! And, I thank :signs001:Jesus!)

    The Crazy Ivan in SEptember!

Razor - Feather SS Artist Club/1959 Gillette Ball End Tech
    Blade - [IMG] (2) [IMG] (2 2/3)
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
Soap - TSD Lanolin Bay Rum
Post - Cold Water, Alum, The Veg

Sunday morning so it's Feather SS time again as the Crazy Ivan spins wildly around. Throwing something else in today...TSD Lanolin soap that I just got. First time using it so hey, why not try it when I'm using the razor I'm most likely to kill myself with? Let's add as many variables as possible. Just how I roll. using the Kamisori blade for the second time. This Canadian made blade is less expensive than Feather and Kai and produced a decent result last week. A bit duller, and a bit tuggy but it didn't cut/slice/dice/behead so we'll give it another run. I did grab the BoS because I wanted to see how it worked with the TSD Lanolin. It's the best match for MWF so I'm thinking it will work equally as well with this. And, of course, all of this happened following my normal Sunday head shave with my Merkur 23c with an Astra SP and VDH deluxe soap and brush.

Soaked the BoS like always and started loading the TSD. Really great scent on the bay rum. Nice and spicy, clovey (if that's a word), just all around great bay rum type smell. Seemed like it loaded well after giving the brush a good shake from the soak and the first lather was really really nice. Quite impressed. Cushiony, felt like the same slickness as MWF which is not quite as slick as Tabac but still better than most. Grabbed the Feather SS and started down the right check and began adjusting to overcome the tugging. Shallowed the angle a bit and it improved, but still pretty tuggy. More than I remember last week. Managed to get the right side done and went to the left. Yeah, this blade is not going to be a long term solution at all. Too much grab and pull even though it gets a nice result. Finished the first pass with no cuts/nicks etc., but just didn't like the feel of the blade. Rather than work with a less than ideal situation with this razor I'm bailing out. I have the '59 Tech with Vietnamese Gillette in it so let's give it the rest of the shave.

Relathered without reloading and it was ok, not quite as rich as the first time and it was dissipating a bit. Still got the second pass done without a problem. Wanted a full third pass, partly to get the shave where I wanted it, partly to work one more time with the soap. I dipped the brush in the mug to wet the tips, went back to the soap to reload and BAM!!!!!! Lather shot up. There we go, it likes more water than I gave it to start. Produced an absolutely magnificent lather. Cushy, thick, slick with a nice slick residue, I mean just perfect. As good as MWF or Tabac. Third pass was smooth sailing even with a full ATG and the G-slide on the neck. Fantastic finish. I'll remember to use more water to start next time to get this the entire shave.

Finished with a very nice DFS, alum provided zero burn. Amazing considering neither blade is top notch, but the lather really protected and did its job. Skipped the Nivea and went straight to the Veg. No burn there either and my face is as smooth and comfortable as it has ever been.

Hope your Sunday is a fun day and that the skies are as blue as they are here. Mid 70s today so maybe Autumn is trying to make it in and clear out the heat and humidity of a St. Louis summer. Might even get the bad guys to stop shooting so much too. Nah, that's all just part of the charm of our little piece of paradise. Enjoy the day!

I hope the same thing can be said for Tequila. For whenever I drink that stuff, I have no rhythm and the last thing I would need was a worm coming my way. I have been told the effect can be quite... interesting?
