I remember the days when a car load of us guys would make a weekend run down to Panama City Beach listening to CCR and Lynyrd Skynyrd all the way down.
Looks like you all have a great collaborative effort going on. Can't wait for the recording to come out!
SEptember Focus Day 15: Homemade PS Oil Stirling Synthetic Brush Mitchell's Wool Fat Gem G Bar Stirling Unscented PSB Old Spice Classic AS Wow, I can't believe we are half way through this month's focus already. I used the G Bar again. I am still working through issues with the angles, as I had a couple of nicks when I went ATG. My face does feel nice and soft after using Mitchell's Wool Fat. After a long day yesterday day, I am looking forward to a better today.
09/15/2015 Razor – Mongoose B2 with Dr. Bomber Blade –Feather Super Pro (2) Brush –Rudy Vey with Shavemac Finest Lather – B&M Seville Post - Witch Hazel and Myrsol F/Extra A fantastic 2 pass plus touch ups BBS shave this morning. I did manage to get a couple of weepers again. I have to pay attention more to what I am doing with the Super Pro blade. Seville soap has such great citrus barber shop scent that it's always a joy to use. Finished off with a a splash of Myrsol F/Extra and I am off to fight the Atlanta morning commute.
September 15 If you have been following....Yes I have the lather..had an amazing shave this morning....one negative the wife walked in and bumped me when I was getting my upper lip and BOOM I got a nick but that's ok still got a BBS.the soap was very nice after I payed it mor attention.cold water splash, bay rum splash and uniform on out the door I go ......and it was a 3 pass shave
1953 (Y3) Tech Vulfix Super Badger (660) Proraso Sandalwood cream Aqua Velva Ice Blue Shave #1 with the Gillette Silver Blue in my birthday Tech. A comfortable BBS shave. Face lathered, then did 2 full passes: Pass 1 WTG on my face and XTG on my neck (wings to center today). Pass 2: ATG. Did a cold water rinse followed by a few targeted touch ups in my problem areas and caught the baby. The Aqua Velva was quiet today. A nice BBS shave from the Gillette Silver Blue in the Tech. I'm still thinking the Tech is a little milder than I would like. Looking forward to OCtober where I'll test that theory.
Seventh & Final shave of a 7-Day Test Drive: Mastro Livi Custom This morning's early shave marked the seventh and my last shave using this lovely Mastro Livi Custom Straight Razor. I have come away very impressed with this razor. The keenness of the large Damascus steel blade is over-the-top sharp, the Spanish tip deadly if one isn't careful, the oversized scales smooth & light. The overall effect in using this razor is to heighten one's awareness of the entire shaving process. Was it easy to use? After the first two shaves, I no longer was intimidated by the sheer size of this razor. Over the past few years, I have used a fairly broad range of razors of differing sizes—some up to an inch in blade width— but this one was certainly the largest. Despite the size, I found the Mastro to be a very efficient, comfortably smooth razor to use. Would I ever consider owning one? In a heartbeat. Someday…maybe. Compared to your average off-the-shelf SR, the Mastro Livis carry a significant price tag—which is to be expected with any artisan-made, one-of-a-kind custom 'art piece.' These prices may exclude many from ever purchasing a Mastro Livi, so I am grateful for the opportunity this past week to indulge my SR curiosity. Thanks to Mike (@entropy1049 ) for generously sharing this fine razor! I not only survived the experience, but came away very pleased with (and spoiled by) the Mastro!
The Crazy Ivan in SEptember! September 15 Razor - Ever Ready 1914 Lather Catcher Blade - Pal Blue Carbon SE (1) Brush - Omega Pro 48 Soap - Arko Post - Cold Water, Alum, The Veg And, back to SEptember we go. It's a different routine this morning. My day off but I have a job interview in a bit. So, I need a great shave without any cuts/nicks etc. that will add to the image. Obviously I need to stay with something very familiar and that is the least likely to create an issue. So, in true form, I plow ahead to the Lather Catcher and Pal Blue Carbon. You can't scare me. When I loaded the blade I did have about a half second of doubt. This thing looks aggressive as hell. I had the Pro 48 with Arko ready just to make sure I got enough lather to avoid any problems so no fear. First pass WTG. Where is the angle on this thing? Missed it the first stroke. Too shallow. Relathered that spot and angled out. THERE it is. Wow.....nice feedback like a carbon should give. Going past the ear was an incredible rush of noise. Finished the right side, switched left, held the angle and got the same result. Jawline was a bit rough but I didn't hold the angle as well. Second pass, XTG. Again, great feedback and no problems. Third pass....ATG......could be danger. Nope, no issues and a great feel. Neck still needed a bit of help so I even threw a slide on at the end to finish. Alum was a bit nasty but I expected that. Other than that just a fantasticly fun and fabulous shave. Finished with the Veg in moderation just to add that air of success and I'm off to impress. Happy Tuesday!
