    Those aren't cartridge razors.

I am still ambiguous on this matter. There are many disposables on which you can remove the head and place it on the cartridge razor. But if we specifically talk about BIC and Gillette GN, these become useless when the head is removed from the handle.

I recently bought Gillette Blue 3/Sensor 3 disposable razor (Made in Poland). I will test shave with it today and compare the results with Chinese Blue 3 cartridge. The head of Blue 3 disposable, easily comes off and can be attached to its cartridge handle. If you notice closely, the chinese blue 3 has blue rubber glider and the marking on the blades are in form of lines and not dots, like the ones made on Polish Blue 3 with silver rubber glider.

    Today's shave:
    • Gillette Blue 3/Sensor 3 Disposable head attached on Chinese cartridge handle (Made in Poland)
    • Gillette Foamy original and Gillette Progilde sensitive Gel
    • Omega syntex
    • Old spice Classique AS lotion
    Shave result = DFS
    Number of passes = 2
    Cost per shave = $0.08

My comments on Polish Blue 3/Sensor 3 :

The Polish blades are definitely much better than Chinese ones. I was easily able to slice all my whiskers off without experiencing any tugging (happened a lot with Chinese Blue 3). The shave was smooth and comfortable as always. When compared with all other gillette razors (including Mach-III and proglide), the spring system in these blades is way too responsive. Plus, the head is slim enough to access all the tricky spots on the face. Initially, I constantly kept getting this urge to press harder, but these blades are specifically made for beard reduction and not for elimination. When compared with twin bladed sensor excel, I find these ones to be better, and the reason is that three blades efficiently reduce my whiskers without need for any touch ups. I found these blades to be mildest of all the Gillette razors (including proglide). I am sure if I shave recklessly every day, I won't get any cumulative irritation. I would recommend this razor to all those men, who experience irritation and razor burn problems with other razors. These blades are great for advanced shaving technique, "the blade buffing". But, you need to be somewhat skilled at this technique before using it directly :kar:.

    Thats it :happy088:

I bought a Feather MR3 Neo from Classic Shaving last week and my last five shaves have been 99.9% bbs and irritation free. The MR3 totally outshaved any cart razors I've used that were made by Gillette, or Schick. I strop the carts afterwards on a Razorpit so we'll see how many shaves I get.

Just make sure that you keep getting consistent supply of refills, or else, you will be quite disappointed. :)

I use DE on my face, neck, and front of my noggin, but I will often grab a cartridge for the back of my noggin. I have some ridges and dents where the DE razor gets too bloody close, the cartrdige razor glides over those spots. Yeah.. it doesn't get as close, but in this case I will accept that. So the last time I used a cartridge... this morning. Some Gillette multi blade monster... can't think of what type it is at the moment.

How so? It's built like a cartridge, looks like a cartridge, and shaves like a cartridge. Just because you can't take it off of the handle doesn't mean that it isn't a cartridge. Just like just because you can't take the magazine out of an M-1 Garand doesn't make it less of a weapon than an AK-47 or any other weapon that has a removable box magazine.

It all boils down to one thing, your technique. Every razor demands its own way of handling. If I consistently shave with DE razors, I start getting severe irritation after every shave. For me, the following case (in video) happens every time when I try to leave my Fusion proglide razor :) . I don't mind DFS shaves because BBS feels too naked. It may be a monster in looks, but the way it pampers my skin, is second to none.

We can't really call these cartridge razors because the company that makes it, says so. Many razors give similar shaves when compared with one another e.g. Twinjector razor almost delivers the same shave as trac-II razor. But, we can't call twinjector razor, a cartridge razor. @Jerry-built Hustler didn't mean to say your post is not welcomed here or it doesn't fit here. His intention was to let you know, you are calling a disposable razor, a cartridge razor.

Well then in that case, I am not a cartridge razor person. Maybe I took his response out of context and it was my mistake. I wasn't trying to make it seem confrontational, but more of a conversation. Maybe one of these days I'll try a Gillette Guard razor. That is considered a cartridge right?

Strangely, the industry who manufacturers them make a clear distinction. Who are we to argue? They must be right, they invented them...

I've not used a cartridge razor for around 10 years. I did, however, use a 3 blade disposable a few weeks ago. I originally shaved my head with a FrankenTechNew LC that is brutally aggressive and I cut the heck out of my scalp in a couple of places. I used the 3 blader for the next couple of head shaves while I waited for the scabs to heal. It provided a decent shave, but not nearly as satisfying an experience as my Weber or Gillette New SC.

I rarely trust anything those crooks say. Just like I don't trust a certain other entity who shall remain nameless.

Would you like to PM me, as I haven't a clue what or who the nameless entity is? Otherwise you are coming across as odd...

As far as I know. Gillette Guard can be used both as disposable and cartridge razor. There is no fine line drawn b/w cartridge and disposable razors. You can always say that you used trac-II disposable (Gillette Good news). I have made couple of posts earlier, in which I used disposable razors :) . I don't see it as a big issue :) .

Since I am more inclined to single or two blade razors (if I have to use them,) then maybe the Guard will be to my liking. The last time I used a Fusion was four years ago, and the last time I used a Mach III was probably a little more than three years ago. Admittedly, my technique was horrible and I had no sense of prepping for a shave. I guess I'm shell shocked and don't want to risk the discomfort of using a Fusion or Mach III again.

Technique plays a huge role in getting a good shave with any razor. Every razor is designed differently and requires a different approach for a proper use. I'm not a fan of Gillette fusion, but Fusion proglide is my love. :) . You might want to try proglide cartridge, it is way better than orange fusion.
