Received three Gillette razors from France this week: The one I care about is the Single Ring with the "G in D" stamp. It's a bit tired looking but should hopefully clean up well enough. The mark:
Need some advice on this razor I picked up today at an antique store. It looks like a frankenrazor to me...It appears to me to be two heads from different razors and one handle. And the case seems to be from one or the other original razor. The thing that puzzles me though is the different metals that seem to comprise the handle and the head plate...did they make copper techs? Any advice welcome...
It looks to me like you have a Tech handle from the 40's, a Tech head and a New head. They made gold plated Techs and you may have one where the finish is about gone.
I have read that many of the New ball end handles had problems with splitting...and maybe this handle was discarded and the head from the New was put in the case with the newer Tech...who knows...
Finally the wait is over. The new addition to my meager Morris and Forndran collection arrived from Lee today.
I just received the wheel the other day... Been looking at the lighthouse, lantern, and telegraph also.
Not one...but two... Schick Paul Revere razors. This time the cartridge model. The second one was an 'accident'...I mean how was I to know it would actually sell for $4....
Received some injector blades and GEM SE blades today. I ordered them from EMS per the recommendation from the injector & SE party thread.
I used a MMOC as my first SE experience and I missed these. I purchased Gem Ted Pella for less than 50¢ a blade. What's the difference in your most excellent haul and the Ted Pella blades for cost, quality and comfort? I will soon be in possession of a couple injectors and will need to purchase blades.
I haven't used many SE blades and only have experience with some NOS Schick Plus Platinum and a lack of GEM blades from the local super store. So I can't speak for comfort, yet. Cost wise though... The injector packs are 20 blades each @ $4.50 and the GEM pack is 10 blades @ $3.75. Plus shipping.
I was wondering what some of the differences are. Those are precision industrial and medical blades. I guess my question is...What makes them different? Are they better than a blade made for shaving? I will look forward for your review. Thanks.
Too bad I find the Avon scents so offensive because most the the bottles Ive found are full. I found a complete set of the pistols new in the box today.
