    Aqua Velva

The Col. Conk Bay Rum Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #17b Best Badger brush. Two passes with my Schick L1 Injector razor and a Personna SS Injector blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Today's shave.

Prep: hot shower, Nivea Face Wash.
    Brush: Turkish #6.
    Razor: Gillette 40's Rocket.
    Blade: Personna Med Prep.
    Cream: Speick.
Post: cold water rinse, Fine American Blend, Myrsol Emulsion.
    Hair product: Groom and Clean.

I just did one pass for an extremely DFS shave. I used to be really put off by the scent of Speick, but I'm finally coming around to it after all these years. I like the performance and its skincare.

You lucky dog with getting a Varlet Beehive. I went to pay for mine, inputted my card, pressed order and chrome crashed, went back in and sold out. They are great looking brushes. Nice setup you used today Mark.

Heading home to San Jose, CA early tomorrow morning for a four day visit with the family and to celebrate my mom's 78 birthday on Saturday. Haven't been home in 3 years so lots of catch up to do with the family in the short time span. This will probably be my last pic post until I return home on Tuesday.

Also my sinus infection is still in overdrive and even though I used SdM 40% ass milk soap this morning, going to hold off my comments until my olfactory senses return. Shave quality though was excellent.

Razor - Ever Ready 1914 Lather Catcher
    Blade - [IMG](3)
Brush - Vie Long 12705 - The Horse
    Soap - Tabac
Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea

Well day three of the PAL BC has arrived. Will it or won't it make it through the shave? I have babied this blade a bit by drying it and dipping in 91% alcohol after each shave to keep rust at bay. Even with this precaution there is some slight rust beginning on the edge this morning. We won't know the effect until we start. Oh, I also hand stropped it to try and smooth it out a bit.

The Horse and Tabac today, another great combination though I almost didn't get enough water in the mix. Tabac is forgiving, though, so if you get it too dry to start you can add water and keep going and it produces great lather that way. Again, one of my favorite soap scents. Ok, lathered up, ready to go, razor in place, angle set, let's go. Hmmmmm. Actually better than I expected and no worse than yesterday. Second stroke is the same and I am able to finish the WTG pass with no problems. Except....it's not quite as smooth a one pass finish. Lathered up and the XTG was not any worse either for feel but there was a bit more work to do to finish the shave up. Went ATG all over and slid the neck. Had to do a bit of scrubbing to get a DFS and it isn't as good a DFS as yesterday but still there. Water, the alum for the extra burn and Nivea to cool off.

I would have to say that the Lather Catcher does a fine job and the PAL BC is a good carbon blade. But, it's a carbon blade so life is shorter and shave is a bit noisier and rougher. Still an enjoyable three days overall going retro with this setup. As for the SE race I'd put the Gem 1912 over the Ever Ready 1914. And, I would put the Gem PTFE blade over the PAL BC, but again, two different blades so I don't expect an even comparison.

Tomorrow Ivan is going crazy again....it's another Chinese blade, the Patrix. Be afraid, be very afraid.

I don't use this Wholly Kaw soap nearly enough, it's a good soap! Great almond scent. I'm going to keep this one closer to the top of my stacks. My custom Silvertip is nice to use in the early morning, very easy for me to grip. The Mongoose will always be used in my rotation.

    Fuzzy Face Fatboy Friday
I tried Fuzzy Face soap for the first time today after being alerted to a sale by my friend . I chose the Beau Brummel scent because it is a sweet tobacco type. The scent is well described - it smelled a bit boozy with tobacco before lathering. On my face the sweet note was reduced and it just smelled like a warm den where a man had been smoking a pipe.
The lather was good also, providing plenty of glide and protection, so that the Fatboy did its job, ending up with a drama free BBS. During the shave I was thinking about which AS to use, and I decided that B&M Awesome is an excellent companion, being a little sweet at first, then warmer and comforting. After my first impression, I think I would buy more soap from Fuzzy Face without hesitation - they provide an excellent value and very good performance.
    Prep: Dove Hydrate
    Soap: Fuzzy Face Beau Brummel
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: 59 Fatboy 9-9-9
    Blade: Astra SP
    AS: B&M Awesome

Oh la la, the Frost_byte soap is very well-named. It felt damned cold when I was lathering up and shaving. Not as cold as a Glacial soap, but not that far off. The Glacial Wintergreen balm and witch hazel were absolutely wonderfully frigid and soothing. Another awesome shave.
