My bad, I got confused with all the Avon AS bottles Ive seen this week. One of the lighthouses I bought for $2 is full and the other two are more than 3/4.
Received three other things this week; 1) Schick Repeating razor It has a 'smooth bar' so I'm guessing it's a C3 or...? Loving the heft of this thing to the point where I might see about getting one in better condition. Really feels like a quality razor when you pick it up. As per eBay tradition when it comes to selling vintage razors - a rusty blade was left in the razor: 2) Schick Hydro-Magic Nice clean case, razor looks good and lever works well. Will be great fun to try out. 3) Henckels Rapide Arrived in better condition than the eBay ad made me believe (and I guess others as well as it sold for just $30). This should actually clean up real well. Also came with the stropper handle, a slew of wedge blades in good condition and in the original twinwerks holders
Interesting that I'd never seen one and (now that I have one) I just saw another one pop up on eBay the other day.
Found this Schick Injector Razor Kit which included a type L in great condition. Note the box says "Sample not for sale". And the end flap says Sample".
I've been without my computer for about a week, unable to post any new acquisitions, so here we go. First up are a couple of razors; a Rolls Viscount and a Ronson, twenty bucks each. I've already got three Rolls Imperials so I didn't really care if I had a Viscount until I opened this one up and realized it has never been used. Can't remember if I've seen a Ronson before but I didn't have one and this one seemed to be in very nice condition and there were a few blades with it. Next, a couple of gift sets. $25 for the Seaforth and $16 for the Old Spice. One of the jug handles on the Seaforth is broken but I've got others and I was mostly after the nice mug with an unused puck of soap. The Seaforth aftershave is pretty rank but the Old Spice still smells good. The Old Spice containers seem to seal much better than the Seaforth containers. Next, a couple of Old Spice mugs. An early 04 for $6 and a cobalt blue for $25. The 04 was pretty cruddy and had a nasty looking puck of soap in the bottom that after I cleaned it up and scraped off the remnants of a rotted brush, I noted the inscription on the underside of the puck and realized I had a vintage puck of Williams rather than Old Spice. This is the first cobalt blue that I've acquired so I was somewhat surprised at how large it is. Lastly, (for now, since I got another razor in the mail today but it's taking a bath) some English Leather Lime AS and cologne. I was quite curious about English Leather Lime having seen a bottle in the TSD Raffle so I was tickled to run across some today. I paid $4 for the small cologne and $6 for the larger aftershave in the wooden box.
Bumper crop today. From left to right, In today's mail... Old Spice shave mug, first Hull pottery run, Ship Grand Turk From the TSD travel box... Gillette Travel Tech GEM pushbutton Schick Eversharp Injector (I'm giving SE and Injectors another chance, as my previous razors were "aggressive.") Vintage bottle of Ingram's shave cream (Proof that I will try anything once) De Vergulde Hand shave stick Injector blades Ogallala bay rum and sweet orange shave soap Sample jars of Tabac and Speick Men Active Coate's Lime shave cream and a decant of Floid Suave A lot of things there that I've wanted to try, but never got around to it. From the Seattle Shave Con... The banner! (Don't worry, I'll return it) Shavemac Silvertip D01 (I just realized I've been calling it a DS01, doh!) WSP Fougre Noir shave soap, which smells awesome. The Shave Doctor shave gel oil and pre shave face scrub, (they sent a bunch, so I grabbed an extra set to put in the TSD travel box. Fresh Richie wipes. Going in my dopp kit. From The Los Angeles Shaving Soap Company (now there's a mouthful) Bespoke #1 Shaving Soap. It smells awesome (a point both my cousin and mother both disagree with me on), but I will probably have some issues with one or more of the ingredients, pepper essential oil being the biggie. We'll see. And finally, a Fatboy case. Yeah the hinges are broke, but it was a gift and a case for one of my razors that didn't have one. Double win.
