What a wonderful time! Making fond memories that mountains of money can't buy. Enjoy it together a few more times over the next couple years and he'll remember it forever. Very cool.
Thank you sir! but everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, that I learned about traditional shaving I learned from TSD, and in particular - the 30-Day thread! (truth in advertising - i also learned from the Mantic videos...but they were through the posts on TSD.) so take a bow everybody!:wave::wave:
You see? Right there! With that brief response, that economy of words, sums up all of what came before in a short and ultimate describable way to where the reader has the complete experience of all the posts that preceded it - in just one word!!! This, my friends, is the man for the job! The right man, at the right time, my fellow Americans, it is my honor to place this name in nomination for the Presidenc... (ooh sorry, got a tad carried away on that one.) but y'all got the point right! Bring it on Adam!arty:
Lot of stuff in your post! It has been so cool to watch you ease into this! Reading your posts, and others, over the past few weeks has made me reexamine my methods and have forced me to consciously improve my own technique. Thank you!!
...and on that note...(with a tip of the cap to songmeister extraordinaire @GDCarrington ) Here's to @Drygulch and all you 30-Day Denizens for continuing the quest, to return to the scene, to keep up with the show that never ends, that is the 30-Day Thread... Ladies and germs, please welcome - ELP!!!
@Drygulch Adam, We gotta talk strop and SR setup sooner or later. I am gonna take a run at it with the straight the I have coming down the line, from the August Raffle ( kudos @Queen of Blades and @HolyRollah ). It's nowhere near ready, but My 30 Day calendar has a slot in 2016 for my "90 Days to get it or quit it" with an SR.
steal away, no copyrights here... caveat emptor - Who's the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?
Prep: Hot shower with Stirling Glastonbury. Pre Shave: Bloom water from soap. Soap: The Fat Brush: The Kong Razor: G1 Blade Schick (China) (3) Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Lemon Chill W/H Aloe. Another great shave. The Fat is a great performer, but not the slickest soap in my drawer. Maybe it's me. At any rate it's still rates a place in the rotation. 4 full passes, WTG, XTGS, XTGN, ATG. Cold rinse, Alum, cold rinse, W/H, final touch up, BBS. I'm not sure that I can detect a difference between the G, J, and L, they're all great shavers. The twin blade I've been using in the L may be a hair smoother, but it's not such a game changer that I would be terribly upset if I ran out. I do have 65 on hand, however. I'll be using the L with the twin next time.
Chris- I have also used the G, J, and L, albeit with standard blades. The G definitely features more exposure, but they all seem about the same to me, only difference being that penalty for erring with a G is marginally higher. And random....but could you post a shot of your razor display in the photo background? Looks neat.
yes! - it looks just like one of those razor / (test tube) holders that I keep telling myself to get! and I see a bunch of them at TSD!
I've also noticed that things called "tobacco pipe rack" cost $$$$. But things called "test tube rack" only $.
You have but to ask. It's actually a 3 tiered bamboo spice rack from Amazon, and some bronze toothbrush holders from Lowes.
