This is going to be a bloody strange post, and Mods please feel free to move this to another location, but it's difficult to categorize...

Late last week I received a package from H. Gerstner and Sons containing the lovely wooden chest pictured below. Ideal for storing straight razors. I did not order this for myself, nor indeed know of it's existence. The invoice listed third party billing to "MyToolStore.com dba Tool Shack" in Las Vegas, NV. It appears someone has bestowed upon me a fine and generous gift, and I have no idea who.

I would like to be able to identify the giver so that I may give them my thanks.

If this person, or anyone knowing a member associated with Tool Shack in Las Vegas would contact me either here in the thread or via PM, this great mystery will be solved, and I will be able to extend my heartfelt thanks for such a fine gift.

Hello Entropy 1049, congratulations on the stunning chest. That is one cool gift. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
On a different note, I want you to know I have been working my way through that blade sampler you sent me. There are some great blades there. Thank you for sending them.

As evil as it may be, I looked at the mytoolstore.com website and located the chest, it sells for like $130. Which though not $1K (as many of Gerstner's chests sell for), is still a ridiculously generous and opulent gift. Still no luck in outing the giver!

The drawers hold three straights comfortably. With four drawers and the top compartment under the lid, my "14 Straight Razor Philosophy" conforms perfectly to this little chest (with the big Livi custom hogging up a double space :D), and I continue to be stymied and amazed by, and grateful for, the generosity of the mystery giver...

Kevin, I just endured great torment over the last few months downsizing from ~50 in rotation and another 50 or so laying around to get down to 14 (wanted to do 7 but I had 7 J-Wests alone I couldn't seem to part with :D).

If anything, limiting capacity will only reinforce my desire to have only 14.

Laudable and commendable effort put forth, Mike! Alas, three words come to mind...

Lol! You may well be right Kevin, but as an old sailor, I am inspired by a quote from a notable predecessor:

    "Don't Give Up the Ship!"

    :D
