It's not very common but identical, monozygotic, twins can, I believe, indeed by of different gender.

    Here's from NatGeo:
"Identical twins are almost always the same sex, but surprisingly there are a tiny number of boy-girl monozygotic twins. They result from an egg that contains an unusual mixture of sex chromosomes, not the usual XX for a girl, and XY for a boy. Occasionally an egg contains three sex chromes, two X's and a Y. But if the egg divides to produce monozygotic twins, a chromosome may be lost in the process, leaving one embryo with a girl's XX combination, and her monozygotic twin as an XY boy."

There's probably a better chance of winning the lottery though.

Every rule has exceptions, of course. In this case, they are extremely rare exceptions, and it's not likely that the average person would ever encounter twins in this situation. Note that there have been a few reported cases of a genetic mutation in monozygotic male twins. For some reason, after the zygote splits, one twin loses a Y chromosome and develops as a female. The female twin would be afflicted with Turner Syndrome, characterized by short stature and lack of ovarian development. It's extremely rare; less than ten cases have been confirmed. Given the odds, it's safe to assume that 99.9% of all boy/girl twins are fraternal.

I was in another archery tournament today (winning once again, unopposed in my category.) I came within 3 points of the (younger) man shooting next to me. I am pretty pleased about that.

Spent the evening up to 2am with a friend suffering from OCD and insomnia repeatedly reassuring her that her credit cards were in her wallet. She took them out counted them and put them back in..then two minutes later worried if they were there....the thing went on for about three hours.
After an evening of breathing exercises and reassuring her that she was in control I fell asleep on the floor next to her bed in case her fears would flair up again.

I wouldn't call that 'manly' though but rather 'human' and today I'm feeling extremely guilty about dreading to go back over to my friend's place tonight.

If nothing else it reminds me to be extremely grateful for being as healthy as I am.

Sorry for being a downer :)

I hate to burst your bubble, but if they aren't the same gender then they are NOT identical. There is most certainly a difference...

Took more then one day but I finally have it all together and ready to go, now lets hope I never need it

With all the forest fires in our area this summer the wife and I decided it was time to actually put a "WildFire Suppression" system together for our place..
So with a ton of research and calculations we are now ready to at least move a crapload of water if need be. Don't know if I want to be "Fighting Fires" but at least we can soak down everything around the house before we bug out :p

150 GPM with up to 880 gallons in the Cistern and a refill rate of 23 GPM so we can move some H2O :D
