    SEptember Focus Day 23:

    Homemade PS Oil
    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    Stirling British Leather SS
    Injector Type G
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Stirling British Leather AS

After the past couple of days of baby chasing on my neck and the resulting irritation, I was determined to not repeat. So I went with a WTG pass followed by a XTG pass. Then, I put down the razor, put my hands in the air, and backed away from the sink. Well, I didn't do the last two, but I did manage to put the razor down. I didn't do my normal neck clean up as this where I get tempted to keep going. I am going to call this a CCS. I am definitely not as smooth, but I am irritation free. I am ready to start my Thursday. Hope everyone has a good day!

having skipped some shaves because of crazy times at work and surprise hospital visits from home I'm excited to get back to it. My Gem bullet tip is going to get a workout on 2 days growth as soon as the kids leave for school.

Razor – Mongoose B2 with Triad SS Helix
Blade – Feather Super Pro (9)
Brush – Ever-Ready with TGN Finest
Lather – Strop Shoppe Baker Street
Post - Witch Hazel and Myrsol F/Extra

A fantastic near BBS shave this morning. First pass was XTG and the second ATG followed by a few touch ups. The Strop Shoppe was very easy to lather and super slick. I really need to remember to use this soap more often. Finished off with a splash of Myrsol F/Extra and I am ready for the day.

Somehow, I managed to ignore the voices that told me to keep going, although it was difficult.

September 24th SOTD (Shave 11 of this focus)
    Two days’ growth
    Preshave: Hot Shower
    Razor: Henckels Friodur Inox
Strop: Drygulch Leatherworks Oiled Latigo (20 laps linen/ 20 laps leather pre, 10 /10 post)
    Brush: Handturned Maple Badger
Soap: Barrister & Mann Fireside (Brandy scented)
Postshave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, Thayer’s Witch Hazel
    Aftershave: Mandom
    IMG_2097.JPG
I was trying to figure out what scent pairs well with Brandy scented soap. Nothing really matched, so I decided to just go for the big guns. Mandom matches everything, and brings a level of awesome to my shave I can hardly belive. Check out the reviews on Amazon.
This razor is an automatic shave. I didn’t stay on my focus today, and tried to do a half pass to get my neck to BBS. Didn’t make it, so I stopped. I really need to figure out the ear to Adam’s Apple stroke with a straight. For me it is ATG, and seems to be the key to a BBS. No BBS today, but a solid DFS.

No shave yesterday (because of work) or today. Been crazy couple of days at work with so much trying to get done with deadlines looming. Unfortunately, I also have to add to the injury report. My daughter had a nasty fall at school and smacked the back of her head against a metal railing. After about 4 hours in the urgent care she was diagnosed with a concussion and has a really nasty knot on the back of her head (fortunately no swelling or other more serious issues). Had to take her to my parents this morning to stay and be watched to make sure nothing gets worse with the injury, so no shave before work. Hopefully tonight there will be another shave with the Schick G.

Here's to hoping for a good rest of the week for everyone with no further injuries reported!

    Razor - Schick M2 Injector
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
Brush - Vie Long 12750 The Horse
    Soap - Arko
Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea

Day two on the M2 and I opened it up about halfway on the dial. Yesterday's shave wasn't bad but very mild so let's see what adding some gap does for it. Chose the Horse with Arko today. Great lather as always with Arko and I do love a horse hair brush. Almost wanted to rinse off and lather again just for the fun of it.

Two passes and a touchup pass on the neck today. Had good results once I hit the right angle. The XTG felt good and smooth and I just had to do an extra XTG with some sliding on the neck to get a very nice DFS. Some days this might be a BBS, but I'm being picky. Why? Because I can.

My impression after two shaves with the M2 is that yes, it is a very nice razor and it does what it's supposed to do. No doubt about that. Tomorrow it will be on its most aggressive setting just to see what it does. But, I don't see myself converting to injectors anytime soon. That's also based on the earlier work with the E2. Very nice razor, really fun to shave with but I'm not a convert. If I had to choose a favorite SE of the four I've tried at this point it would be the Gem 1912. But, we'll see what opening the M2 all the way up does for my opinion.

I'm off to stare at a computer for about six hours. Remember when training used to be actually doing something?

DDuckyMark Ducky Duck and the Hiding Bunch

Despite my late night after a whopping 28 hours of wakefulness I was up and alert at 4:30am. After a few hours of me time with a book I got the kids on their buses, took a short trip to the store and did a little house work before settling down for a shave. While I was out I snagged a bottle of Pinauld's clubman so that got set out today along with Palmolive Classic cream, my Semogue Boar brush, my Schick type G1 loaded with a Chinese Schick blade (shave 3) and, my Gem Micromatic Bullet Tip loaded with a carbon steel gem blade (shave 2).

I started out much like every shave by filling my old spice mug with hot water and soaking my brush for 10min. Then I put a dab of the Palmolive cream on my cheeks and started lathering on my face. It was dry so I added water until it was near perfect. I then had to wipe it all off when there was a knock on the door. 30 min later I was able to start over but wasn't able to get the lather quite as perfect as it was before I was interrupted. I had 2 days worth of growth on my face so I picked up the Gem and very carefully completed the first pass WTG. I relathered, still disappointing, and used the Gem for a XTG pass. After a few seconds of feeling around on my face I did a quick little bit of ATG right under my nose to clean it up and called it quits with a DFS. Sorry Schick don't need you today. I rinsed off with cold water and braced myself for the clubman which. . . Barely tingled. Good thing it went so well because work just called and they need me to work a double from 3pm to 7am. I might be tired later but I smell great with a decent irritation free shave.
