Well you have read what Primotenore has written and my replies. It depends upon strength, how much you want to make in one batch, and how much the mug can hold. The reason why I use two pucks is so that I do not have to do it again as fast and it makes an easy measure against one 5 gram packet of Menthol. Now, you can measure the volume of the mug to see if it will handle two pucks plus the water needed. Use water and a measuring cup to see what the volume is before making the soap mixture. My Hazel Atlas style shaving mug fills almost to the brim with the mixture so I know two pucks, water and menthol works in it. Enjoy the project.
You should have no problem using two cakes with this full size mug. My vessel was pretty small. However, since this was my first experiment, I didn't want to use two precious pucks the first time around. Good Luck!
Well....I'm in the process of grating now. As far as adding scent to it would adding a bit of after shave work?
Waiting for the water to boil now....I decided to try some TSD Barbershoppe colonge to scent it. I will let you but I think you're right may be to soon. It is going to take a while to dry with the humidity we have down here.
Well.....that was easy. Now the wait! Edit: Right Now the scent is burning my nose! Could be I put a bit too much menthol. Or.....as @crackstar would say "Almost enough".
Such fun with shave products!!! Y'know, the Washington Capitals team is famous for shaving cream in the face treatments to players who are right in the middle of being interviewed. ("Well, yes...I......YEOWWWWW)
Is that one or two pucks? I may add some old spice. Looks pretty cool! I'll be doing my project tomorrow morning.
Two....If you are using the Burma Shave mug it is a lot smaller than the mug I used. One will fill up the Burma Shave mug, I think. Those Burma Shave mugs are cool! I bought one in a set from Wal Mart in the mid 1990's.
Yes I'm using the Burma Shave mug, I'll grate one and go from there. It's a pretty cool mug, long fun history Burma Shave had.
Looking forward to hearing your results gentlemen. My Menthol Williams has lost a touch of its zing to my nose, but when lathered it's a real eye-opener. It's my new Menthol Monday soap.
