  3. When you say things like "Gillette claimed back the throne," are you talking in terms of sales, or just your subjective appreciation of the cartridges? If the former, what data are you relying on?
  4. In the UK we can get the GT6 handle with a GT5 blade. This is why I do not understand subscription sites, grocery and supermarket stores already fulfill this market:

  5. As Sabre pointed out, these products are in development for years. Given that the ProGlide came out within a few months of the Hydro 5, it's hard to see how the former could have been intended specifically as a response to the latter.

Keep in mind, the release of the ProGlide is in keeping with a development pattern Gillette has used for years: the new model is introduced, then a tweak to the model comes along to keep sales going, before a totally new model comes along to take its place. We can see this pattern going back at least as far as the Atra.

    - The Atra came out, then was "tweaked" with the addition of a lube strip, becoming the Atra Plus.

    - Then the Sensor came out, then was tweaked with the addition of rubber fins and a slightly larger lube strip, becoming the Sensor Excel.

    - Then the Mach3 came out. Then it was tweaked with "improved" fins, blade coatings and lube strip, becoming the Mach3 Turbo. Then Gillette doubled down with the pattern, following with the Mach3 Power.

    - Then the Fusion came out, and got tweaked in the form of the Fusion ProGlide.

Nothing new going on here. More of same. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the ProGlide was already in the pipeline at the time of the original Fusion's launch.

  6. Its the former actually. Schick was able to make Gillette slip on its market share but admitted that gillette will still dominate.

  7. Amorphous diamond, never heard of it. Time for google. :)
  8. As I went on reading your post, I felt quite embarrassed. I don't know, may be I am just too dumb to see such a broad picture. Thanks for correcting me once again.
  9. If these products are not available in your own market, or you are not as obsessive as certain people then you wont know all the developments. At least you know your Mach 5 from your Atra disposable. The latest kid on the block will receive more media coverage/hype and will appear to be the top dog, whether reality reflects this or not...

  14. No worries, Sir. Even if it was a serious comment, I would never have taken it offensively. I am sure that you already know, I throw away all the sense of ego and self-righteousness when I come online to share info and learn from you gents. However, same can't be said when I am driving in rush hour :p

  17. Only in Japan. as above it's a re-branded Personna GT5 that can be found at various supermarkets, drugstores and subscription websites.
  18. Isn't a "Quattro 5" a misnomer?

  19. Indeed it is. Like I said, if they really needed the word quattro in the razor name, "quattro +1" would have been a much better name.
