So my girlfriend was over and tells me she forgot to shave her legs that day. I did not want to give her my DE to use because I was afraid she'd cut herself, so I let her use my cartridge razor I had in a box. However I only had some very very old canned shaving cream and some of my shaving soaps. Obviously i wouldnt give her the canned garbage. I was recently gifted some Co Bigelow shave cream from my good friend Don. I really loved this cream so I decided to build her a nice lather in my bowl for her to shave her legs with. And she loved the feeling of it. Afterward she was a bit itchy, I believe this had to do with my cartridge razor though. She normally shaves with bar soap on her legs. It is uncented because her skin is pretty sensitive. The purpose of this post is to ask about a DE or a SE for her. Does anyone know of a good Safety to get her to try out? Preferably something made for females (nothing pink, she hates that) The brush I can handle but what about soaps? Are there any pucks or creams out there that are forgiving on people with skin sensitivities to scented products? Thanks guys!
my girlfriend uses a super speed, Proraso white soap, and a peerless Gen 1 synthetic brush. I ordered her the razorock plissoft yesterday. She likes personna med blue blades.
An adjustable would really make sense for a woman new to DEs, being we don't have shaving forums for women.
There's the Lady Gillette and the Lady Schick Injector, and most ladies prefer the synthetic brushes.
I will most definitely be getting her a synthetic brush. My omega rossini is what I let her use and she loved how soft it was against her skin.
I shaved my girlfriend/fiancé's (I use both terms interchangeably) legs the first time with the DE. It let me show her the angle and then she was fine every time after that.
I read on a few sites and 2 razors were mentioned. The merkur 25c and the Edwin jagger Heather ladies DE razor I don't think either of these are adjustable but what do you think of those? Keep the ideas coming though guys I'm not in a hurry to order anything just yet.
I don't know about those 2. I only have one razor that isn't at least 40 years old and my girlfriend just snatches a razor from my stand and loads a blade. Her favorite ones are the TTO because she feels like its easier to cut herself loading a blade on a 3 piece razor. She has used a super speed and a fat boy. Now that I have some schick razors I'm going to have her try one of those.
My mom prefers a 28mm synthetic. Remember when it comes to legs, bigger is better. She is also a huge fan of Kiss my Face shave cream. She likes the pump bottles. For your girl, KmF also makes an unscented shave cream.
My Mom used a 47/49 SS, for a lot of years. I think a Gillette SA, as mentioned above, would be a very good razor for a lady. Slim, long handle and she could find the setting which feels best to her. Just makes sure she changes the settings with the top not screwed tight. For shave cream, have her put a little on one leg, and see if there is a bad reaction. Kind of like doing a allergy test. You could test different soaps in different location. You only need to put the soap in a small area. You can do it dry. Greg W.
I love my Ladies Eversharp Injector....I always think that it maybe belonged to Brigitte Bardot...I sweat so much that I get the slickest shave... Billy...
I don't have any recommendations on razors, but I would suggest Kiss My Face unscented as a good cream for someone sensitive to scents.
I got her this lady Gillette to use on her legs. She prefers a shorter handle razor with a smaller head for her under arms. A short handle Schick injector fits well here.
My fiance uses a Stahly with a non-working original handle or a thin cap old type. She prefers the cheaper blades like Wilkison, dorco and derby. She uses whatever soap from my cabinet. She likes menthol for the cool tingle. her bodywash is mentholated too.
