I did a test lather, 5 fibers fell out . Certainly worth $10 no doubt about it! I still think the Stirling synthetic is the brush for the buck and performance.

Some fell out of mine too. still haven't lathered with it. My fiance maintains that its hers and she will do the first use of it. The oldest child has had strep so we've neither one of us done much for ourselves the last 2 days. Maybe it will be used tonight.

And not to be ultra picky but the handle was all scuffed up! I had to buff it out.

Ive seen that in some of the pictures. I dont think they really polish them. But for 10 dollars its hard to complain. at the same time you expect quality for your money.

Have you ever had a synthetic lose any fibers? Im mostly a natural hair guy so just wondering.

No. That's the alarming thing, I've pulled a couple wild ones but never had them come out like you'd see in a badger.

Is it not the same knot as the plisson? Wouldnt they be made the same way?

I don't think it's the same knot, the Plisson splays very easy, this one had a lot of backbone.

Clint, it's a good brush, I'm going to use it tomorrow I hope I don't lose any more fibers. Yes I'll be looking for your brush to arrive and your thoughts.

mine shed a few hairs and the base was scuffed but I'm not seeing much backbone to it. I use a boar hair brush and an gen 1 synthetic so I don't have much to compare it to but the whipped dog I got in yesterday seems like it has way more backbone.

I think the hair loss and the scuffing is the same problem. If they don't treat it like a high end brush then they wouldn't take the time to buff it out or shake out any loose hairs from the knot before they set it in the handle. shouldn't be a big deal it will shed the loose ones and the rest should stay.

Bought this 'used' Truefitt & Hill gift set on eBay for 30-something dollars - but it appears to be completely unused.
Came with the big giftbox in the background, a large soap jar with their 1805 shaving cream, a small "super badger" brush and a stand for it.

Never tried any T&H soaps before and I'm really curious about this one as the scent is absolutely amazing.

Really, really liking the small badger brush - extremely soft and the handle is very comfortable. Even though its a rather tiny brush I get the feeling it will perform rather well.

Two questions, should anyone happen to know:

    1) What does "Super Badger" compare closest to? It feels rather similar to my Silvertip badger knot and I notice that the 'top band' is whiter than the bottom band.

    2) I couldn't find a lof of information about the brush - and if it's still in production. I think it might have been sold as "Compact Super Badger" but seems to now be a discontinued brush. If anyone knows for sure I'd love to learn more.

Photo to show size of the brush:

All in all I'm really happy with the set for the price.

Mark, I think the only reason I was being critical was because of all the hype this brush had, I don't think it's lived up to it. If it was going to be a Plisson or Stirling Kong killer it missed the mark IMO. Still a good brush at $10.

    Thanks.
I shaved with it tonight. Set at 9 did a 3 pass shave WTG,XTG,ATG no clean up. CCS used a new silver blue. Blade was smooth but I noticed it did not remove as much on the first pass as the Iridium Super did. I like the balance of this razor.
