SOTD October 4, 2015 Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Energizing Face Wash Boost Razor: Gillette Aristocrat Blade: Ladas Lather: La Cigale Savon Barbe soap Brush: RazoRock Plissoft Post: Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate Aftershave: Gingers Garden OakMoss I'm using three new products this morning, La Cigale Savon Barbe soap is a French soap, pick it up at Bullgoose for under $9 and I'm glad I did! Fantastic glide, cushion, post shave. RazoRock Plissoft brush is a nice deal at $10, I wouldn't say this would replace my Plisson and definitely does not hold up to Stirling Kong. Gingers Garden OakMoss aftershave $15. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of this product. I'll be adding more flavors to my collection. Fantastic shave! The Aristocrat is a flawless razor. Never let the things you WANT Make you forget the things you HAVE

5/8 Pyramid 7, Geneva Cutlery B&M homemade boar This Pyramid 7 is pretty "plain Jane" but it's well made and and takes a nice edge easily. Excellent shave this morning. I'm going to redo this boar, it isn't performing like I think it should. So today could be my first day back in the shop in a long time.
Well, the deed is done! I already listed my SOTD for 10-4, so I'll just comment on it. I may have overdone the Stephan some, but just to make sure I got SOME fragrance Now that I recall, the "new" Rise Super Foamy fragrance has been compared to that of Gillette Foamy(the red one)-meaning, little fragrance if any. That's why I miss the old Rise's. But I'd never use a "vintage" rise with a Bay Rum. But this combo works well. I may rotate the Rise with Barbasol on Stephan BR days.

a thought just came to me....I might try the AV musk again, this time to compare it to Bay Rums. At least the AV Musk didn't start out as a mouthwash.
clarifying my AV Musk post, a bit: I don't know of any Bay Rum AS that began as a mouthwash-in that line I was talkinabout the regular AV.
SUNDAY Early morning shave—my first since October 1—using the über-smooth Engels 'Leader.' Only my second shave with this straight razor and the three -day growth posed no problem. Finished with the soothing TSD aftershave milk. Have a blessed Sunday, all!

OCtober - Trick or TREET October 4 Razor - Edwin Jagger DE89l Blade - (1) Brush - Omega Pro 48 Soap - Proraso Green Tub Post - Cold Water, Alum, Proraso Sunday, Sunday so it's a double shave day. Head shave then face shave. Last week I managed to take a chunk out of my temple due to the razor loosening up but it's finally healed up. Needless to say I double checked the razor today after changing blades. My head setup is the Merkur 23c with Astra SP, VDH Boar brush and VDH Deluxe soap. Unless something out of the ordinary happens (like last Sunday) this is a smooth, comfortable, and blood free shave every week. I've considered mixing it up with different setups but considering the tenderness of the area I say if it ain't broke don't fix it! I had a fresh Astra in today so it was especially nice. And.....it is the only Russian blade I'm using all month so I had to spend some extra time just communing with it. I know, it's a St. Pete blade but hey, you take what you get. My regular shave, of course, is not treated with such a philosophy and today we move to the second Trick or TREET setup. It's the Trig Stainless blade from Treet in the EJ DE89l. I chose the Omega Pro 48 and Proraso just because I was in the mood to make gallons of menthol/eucalyptus lather to play with and it didn't disappoint. The Treet King was a really nice blade and the Trig proved to be a great blade too, if a bit rougher than the King. Seems like the Trig is a bit duller which probably caused a bit of drag and the finish after the first and second passes was definitely not quite as good as the King. I was able to achieve a high level DFS with an extra ATG pass along with the usual neck work. So, all in all I can't complain. I'd compare this to a Derby in its sharpness and effectiveness with one caveat...Derby may be a bit smoother. They deliver about the same result though. Day one was a good day, though, so again a TREET without a trick. If the month keeps up like this I may have my most enjoyable and least bloody month in awhile! I'm posting both setups today. The Merkur 23c on the left with VDH soap and brush. I use an empty Proraso tub to hold the VDH. And the EJ DE89l with Proraso on the right.
Shave of the day Pre- Hot shower, Jumping Juniper shampoo cake from Lush Soap/cream- Stirling Clubman shaving soap Brush- Proraso Omega boar Razor- WEBER polished head stainless steel Blade- Personna Lab Blue(2) Post- Cold water rinse, alum block, Humphreys witch hazel, Proraso eucalyptus and menthol aftershave lotion and aftershave balm I felt I got a bit cocky on some places so I added the alum block to the post shave routine. Anything to prevent bumps =P I was gonna use the Pinaud Clubman aftershave too, but Its evening here and I didn’t want to use something quite that strong before bed. Proraso was a very nice and cooling end to a nice shave =D Im very happy with how the Personna blade performs with my Weber. Next I’m gonna try it with my merkur 37C, and if that goes well I might be looking at a bulk buy =D Maybe I’ll try a few more blades before I decide =) I'm not sure yet

SUNDAY SHAVE OF THE DAY RAZOR: GILLETTE SUPERSPEED FLAIR TIP BLADE: SUPER-MAX SUNRISE (1ST SHAVE) BRUSH: EVERREADY 600 SOAP: MAGGARD'S TOBACCO & LEATHER POST: OSAGE RUB/ CHISELED FACE SHERLOCK A/S Had a fairly decent 3 pass shave today. First time with the new Maggard's soap, and I was a little skeptical at first because other scents have burned my face in the past. I did feel a little bit of a burning sensation after the 2nd pass, but it wasn't that bad. I will have to try it out a few more times to make sure. I will say that this is a great leather scent, more of a new car type leather rather than an old chair leather scent. This is the first soap I have encountered with this type of leather scent, not a lot of tobacco going on, but I love this scent anyways. Good job Maria! Finished with Sherlock which is a aftershave I didn't care for at first, but the scent grew on me and I have learned to love the dirt-earthy scent of it. Near BBS just a small spot on the neck that I can still feel a small amount of stubble, got a few nicks from the blade because I wasn't being careful, but the blade seemed to be pretty smooth. Hope everyone had a great shave and a great day!!
