The scents are quite good...however, like Pinaud's Lilac Vegetal, the historical back story is largely fictional. Rancé 1795 is a new perfume house, grasping at pretentions of age, with formulas supposedly based on old family recipes. (Similar to what I'm doing with an 1869 shave cream recipe, come to think. :))

Napoleon's favorite perfume was Farina's (original) Eau de Cologne, which he used frequently, going through several gallons a month. That very old cologne is still available here:

Not to be confused with the easier to find Roger & Gallet Jean Marie Farina Extra Vieille Eau De Cologne, which comes from the French location and belongs to a different company.

Thats awesome. If i was to ask for a sample of creed around me they would look at me like i was stupid. Ive found one store that had creed. Not aventus though. I asked to smell green irish tweed. She wouldnt even spray it for me to smell. She wanted me to smell the cap.

The Triumph & Disaster shave cream I bought a couple of days ago has been quite a disappointment, so much in fact that I needed to take drastic steps to make me feel better. So I opted for a new after shave, one totally on the other side of the spectrum of what I usually buy:

I haven't heard anything bad about T&D shave cream...aside from the price. What didn't you like about it?

Have my first batch of Drug store aftershave. Got it this evening. I have never tried any of these. seldom used aftershave before. Fun new stuff to splash on the face. I hope my wife will like the new smelling me.:)
Also got some injector blades so I can try out my Adjustable Schick.

I also heard only positive comments about it and I really like the scent. But I have been utterly unable to get a decent lather out of it so far. First shave I thought I may have used too much water. Second shave I used far less water and the lather was still very thin, had no consistency and didn't hold. About a minute after face lathering it would collapse.
Currently on vacation so will not do much with the cream for the time being. Once back home I'll give it a try with bowl lathering first, this worked quite well with another cream as well.

Bummer. I've always thought that Triumph & Disaster was the coolest shaving brand name ever. Just was always put off by the price, though Aussie/New Zealand stuff does tend to be more expensive in general.

Yup I think so too. Their facial scrub is called 'Rock & Roll suicide' which I got together with the shave cream and that one not only sounds cool but it also an excellent product.

Glycerin is a must have for any den IMO. You can add a few drops to any lather to increase performance, add it to A/S, and it can be used to make menthol glycerin to add a nice cooling effect to any lather. Enjoy!

I had some before but i Didnt use it as often as I Should haha. I Did try to make my own menthol additive, but when I got JoAnnas M-bomb, my own concoction took a loong break haha.

I should add to my soaps and creams to boost them. I'm gonna try that especially in my taconic soaps =)

This is a big bottle 250 ml. It Should last a very long time

Yes it should last a long time because only a small amount is needed. I forgot to add some m-bomb to my last order, so I ended up making some menthol glycerin instead, but I hear nothing but great things about m-bomb. I would only add a few drops at first until you find the consistency you are looking for, once I accidently added way too much to some Tabac and it was crazy slick but the lather was a weird consistency.

Plissoft. Is that what is called. Does it come anywhere close in performance to the Plisson?
