How has traditional wet shaving changed your life?

I often ponder how my shift to traditional wet shaving has changed my life. And as I read everyone's posts on the forum I am impressed at how just picking up a DE or SR or SE and some soap and a brush has changed attitudes towards life in general.

Yes, we have all spent a fair chunk of change on our passion/hobby/obsession, but like we say, there are worse ways in life to spend our money. Right? A few short months ago I could never have imagined my shelf would be stacked with soaps and creams and brushes and razors. And I used to look forward to winter so I could grow a winter beard and avoid shaving...but not this year. And I can't get over how nice it feels to have a bit of "me" time in the morning to slap on a good shave.

How has traditional wet shaving (DE/SE/SR) changed your life? :signs002:

I've always wetshaved, and I wish it had stayed mainstream instead of becoming a niche, like it is nowadays. The times that you could choose your shaving brush and soaps in the drogerie are mostly gone.

So if anything, the resurgence of classic shaving makes me realise how much the world around us has changed.

The good side is that the wetshaving market has been discovered by artisans, now that it has become a hobby market.

I don't consider it a hobby. Not in the way building models or other pastimes are. I have to shave for work. I choose to shave in a way that's enjoyable. I consider myself fortunate I found you guys and can explore what is a vast wilderness of choices. Each one affecting the other and being necessary to more or less of a degree. It's much like cooking. It's been a great point of reflection.

I no longer sport little red bumps on my throat post-shave, I am never sick, our dog never barks, the Oakland Raiders can't win two games in succession, and the rain has stopped falling in California all since I went back to wet-shaving.

In your defense, OAK probably wasn't you...but apparently I have ruined the Broncos offense and fixed the defense.

Other than becoming taller, smarter, better looking, better smelling, more personable, and having sleep rendered needless--I would say the change was barely noticeable. Except that my skin feels way better!

It reminded me how fun a hobby can be. After wet shaving I added quality leather dress shoes. I've found some great shoe buys on Ebay.

My friends for high school and college collect cars, so when my hobbies look expensive, I just think of them.

This might sound silly but wet shaving is helping me change my perspective on many things. I guess if I am able to turn a task that I used to consider a pain and a burden into something I look forward to. Then maybe the same can be done in other aspects of my life...professional and personal.

How has wet shaving changed my life? Well, considering I have been shaving 50 years, not much. I never considered shaving a chore, nor a delight, but it is enjoyable. I always felt the women in my life, preferred it. My shave will last from all night and into the morning. I don't think any woman wants face burn. I did get back into soaps and a brush, which is nicer than Barbasol.

It changed shaving from a chore, and an increasingly costly one, into an affordable pleasure. That, in turn, makes me happier overall and makes getting up out of bed in the morning a bit easier.

Dude, grow a beard! We need the rain and also need the Raiders to win. ;)

It has only been a month but wet shaving has made me a more understanding and patient and selfless person.
I have "me" time and during this time I reflect not only on my face but the true man in the mirror and because of that I have made some changes in my life for the better. I've learned to take things slow, not just with my shave but also with life, I have been just watching life pass by instead of enjoying it while it's here. Last of all I feel as though seeing such caring and selfless people here at the Den have made me want to become more of a selfless person and more of a gentleman and show acts of kindness that I've seen shown to many others or that I've had shown to me.

Wet shaving and this forum have changed me quite a bit in this short month and for that reason I love this hobby.
Also it's great that I don't have red bumps and cuts everywhere

I just wish it was mainstream again.

It makes me smile every morning and remind me of simpler times, using all vintage razors makes me think about who bought them new and what they did for a living.I like the fact that I'm using a piece of history every morning. It also reminds me of how I've changed in the past year and thats a GOOD THING!
