Thanks Billy. I see what you mean about the safety bar. I'll probably going to use in in November since I have several "new" razors that I haven't tried out yet.

So I am planning on going out this weekend to antique stores. I love the way the E and G type Schick injectors look. What can I look to spend on one in working order. spring in proper order and snug to head. Reasonably nice finish with something that can be cleaned up. I really like getting dirty things and making them look good again.
I know the E type is harder to find than the G Is there a price difference?
To me hunting for the Razor is half the fun.

    Thanks
    Tom

Your right...the hunt is half the fun...although your finds can give you a lifetime of fabulous shaves....
I'd say $15 for an E or G sounds about right...Injectors for some reason, unless you are looking for a D, F or one of the Gold handled G's and sometimes one of the Schick Magazine Repeaters will get pricey....everything else are like the best razor 'Buys' on the planet...I don't know why they are not more expensive, but I hope it stays that way....

I guess Gillette was always coming out with special editions that drove the collectors prices up...Like a toggle or Fatboy...they cost like a used car now...a nice used car...but an adjustable Schick Injector is like $15-$20....and shaves perfect...Personally injectors are my favorite shavers...

Thanks for the info. I actually found a Schick adjustable 2 weeks ago at a junk store. I do not think it was ever used. It still had the blank blade in it from the factory. got it for $8. I actually just received 4 packs of injectors yesterday. I have never tried an injector before. I will try it out tomorrow for the first time. I really like how the E and G's look. People seem to think they shave as good as they look.

Those people are right...they do shave as good as they look...and I know a few shavers whose opinions I consider top-notch who think this adjustable is an unbeatable shaver....We will all be waiting to hear your opinions...

I've always been a Gillette DE fan, bit of Gillette snobbery really, recently started rediscovering the enjoyment of using them. On Bama Samurai's recommendation (you opened my eyes, Chris) I overcame my prejudice and a couple of days ago used my late Father-in-law's Schick Injector L1 with Chinese Schick blade (not so easy to obtain in the UK). A revelation! As clean and smooth as any Gillette shave I've had to date with fewer passes. There are still got a lot more Gillette models I want to add to my burgeoning collection but Schick razors will always have a place in my rotation.

    Regards,
    Chris

I am looking forward to my first shave with it. The wife and kids will be at work and at an art class. That means i will have the bathroom to myself. Nobody pounding on the door for me to get out i can really take my time and enjoy.
I will report back this afternoon.

I wish I had some local antique stores that carried vintage razors but I don't so I can only give you a price perspective from using eBay. I've gotten nearly all of my E and G types for somewhere between $10 and $20 including shipping. You'll likely do better than that finding them in the wild. Good luck! :happy088:

Well I'm really happy for you Brother Karl!
So you just got it? Was it an eBay win?
Were you the one that sniped me at the last second ?!!! :bang:

So the advice you seek on the bloodletting you fear is - SEND IT TO ME!!!! ;)

    Enjoy!!!

Gem Stainless SE blade (Shimmed - New)
    Semogue Boar Brush
Wars Classic Shaving Cream (added Argan oil)
    Organic Aloe Vera Gel
    Logona Mann Aftershave Splash

Just sat down after a the shave of my life with my Open Comb Gem Crowned Lather Catcher...The Crowned Lather Catcher has got to be one of the most comfortable razors that I have....I have heard it said that some folks feel cheated out a shave with a Schick Injector...Well...this baby is a cheeky wee monkey cause after I had my shave I felt cheated rotten...I have the smoothest all over most perfect BBS result....This thing just blows the Whiskers off like the Big Bad Wolf but the blade never feels anywhere near my face...Just finished an Old Yang Style Tai Ji form and I am refreshed and energised...;)
    Good Karma to you all....:chores016:

Actually I got it from a BIN. So, no sniping required. Really Brother Rufus, I am far more of a gentleman than that. (Provided it isn't a razor on my Most Wanted List...)

I returned it the other day and the seller was Top Notch among all the sellers I've dealt with. Immediately approved the refund before I even had a chance to send a picture. He's working out a swap and from the pictures he sent I think the next one is in slightly better condition overall - in addition to having both stops. :happy036:

It doesn't get much better than that. Technichi_shave gets two thumbs up! :happy088::happy088:

Just got back from checking the vintage - junk stores. One place had 3 Schick E & G series. 2 were cleaned up normal old wear i would say. He wanted $40 for each one. The last one needed cleaning had the green corrosion going on that was the E. Wanted $20 for that. I passed on those.
I will look some more next weekend. I will be giving the Schick Adjustable its first run in a few hours. My first ever shave with an injector. Kind of excited to try.

    Happy hunting

So just got done with my first injector shave of my life.:bounce015: What I used. Razor pictured above:signs011: 2 days worth of growth.
Schick injectors from Walgeens. For soap I used AOS Lavender shaving cream and AOS pure badger. Whipped up the lather in my dads old Spice mug. (side note this is only the second time trying to make lather in a bowl. Always face lathered.) It was actually pretty easy. I pre soaked my brush for a few minutes and gave it 3 shakes. Really just air dabs vertical. used a dime size drop on the end of my brush. mixing after 45 seconds to a minute the brush was fully loaded. Nice Bloom I believe it is called. Added a little more water and mixed for another 45 seconds and Viola had a cup of some delicious looking lather.
Then I proceeded to lather my face. Grabbed the razor. Had it set on 3 did not want to have too aggressive on the first go. First pass all N/S. I was not sure I was cutting REALLY smooth. Only knew it was cutting from the audible sound. Finished my first pass and felt my entire face. UMMM I thought is closer than my Slim for a first pass. Now I am starting to get a little mere excited about this thing. Lathered up for the second pass and did XTG. Again felt face and even better. Third pass ATG now when things got very interesting for me. I always have a huge problem getting under my jaw line. Neck is no problem. on jaw line did the buffing stroke., No irritation at all. So I move to under my nose. never have been able to do true ATG more of 45 degree off axis ATG. To my utter surprise I was able to go full ATG. no tugging at all it kind of freaked me out.
    :shocked003::shocked003:.
Rinsed my face with cold water. Cleaned up my stuff and put every thing away. One more rinse with cold water. Pat dried my face and splashed on some Clubman. (first time using this also.) Very little sting only really on the tiny nick on my adams apple. This shave was not a BBS never really had one yet. But a true DFS. Not too concerned about BBS at this point. Trying new razors and blades process right now is what I am doing.
I have to say that I am extremely impressed with this razor. Zero irritation even now sitting typing this. (slow typer so say 45 minutes after shaving). I cannot wait for my next shave. I will crank it up a notch or two and see how that one goes.

    One satisfied shaver right now.
