I feel like the no pressure advice is somewhat misguided. Using the proper and appropriate level of pressure is the real goal. I caught Grail shaves with the injector by using a level of pressure that I would never recommend to a brand newbie. There has got to be a better way to describe this. Anyone?
That bowl is making me crave congee and miso soup! Cool piece. I really like traditional cobalt China patterns. Great color in your photo today! (I realize that piece is Japanese. Love it!)
I agree Chris, if you/I don't love it, PIF it! Let someone else enjoy it, having 25+ razors is absolutely nuts. Considering I basically use maybe 5 of them on a monthly basis. I'm going to put a mystery box together soon and PIF it.
I think that is a great idea once you're experienced and have tried several razor/blade combinations to discover what you really like and what you don't - unless of course you enjoy collecting. At this point in my journey, I don't know what I'll end up liking, so I'm acquiring razors gradually and seeing how they work for me. It's an enjoyable task though, so I'm not complaining!
Personally I've found that very light to almost no pressure during my WTG XTG ATG passes gives the best results, but during touch ups I will use J-Hooking, Gillette sliding, more pressure and even negative pressure, where I let less than the full weight of the razor rest on my skin. Combining this, with skin stretching is how I get BBS more often than not. It's a matter of experience, knowing what technique works on what area of my neck and jaw.
Yeah. To say that the Cards haven't played to their potential is an understatement. Although historically the team with the best regular season record doesn't win the trophy in the end. So really it's not a total shocker.
October 13 Gillette New LC Feather blade (3) Kent BK4 silvertip brush Trumper's Coconut cream Two passes plus touch-ups Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food My Bride and I just returned from a few days of vacation in Florida. Lather was much easier to build on the trip than at home due to the soft water. The BK4 is a great travel brush. The knot is not overly dense, so it dries relatively quickly. It's a mid-size brush, and it packs easily in a brush tube. I've obtained an easy, near-BBS, and very comfortable two-pass shave using this set up almost everyday this month. I'm nearing the end of my Trumper's Coconut cream. I plan to use up this container to make room for some new soaps, including Soap Commander, Barrister & Mann, and La Toja. I hope you all are having a great week!
As a lifelong Georgia boy and Braves fan, it's hard to pull for the Cardinals or Mets, but there is at least one common thread. One of my favorites, Joe Torre.
My favorite story involving Joe Torre is during his last season with Atlanta he was injured and the Braves needed a catcher, so they traded for Bob Uecker. After Joe healed they kept Uecker on to catch Phil Niekro, because Torre hated catching the knuckleball. A reporter asked Uecker the secret to catching Niekro and he said: I wait til the ball stops rolling and pick it up.
Kerry, I hear alot of positive things about Rockets. What's the appeal? What razor do they compare to? Or are they unique?
Gotta love the Uecker stories! Casey Stengel used a similar line as the manager of the 1962 expansion team NY Mets. His first pick of the draft was a no name catcher, to which a reporter asked why? Casey, deadpanning as usual - Because if you don't have a catcher, the ball will just go all the way to the backstop.
