I got in on the B&B Creed Windsor split. My share arrived today. I bought a 15ml decant for $49.90. My first impression of Windsor is shockingly masculine, given the floral framework. The first thing that hit me was the juniper in the gin and the ozonic eucalyptus, which came off as being almost a little minty, and poignantly green. It was invigorating, embracing, and powerful. The seamless transition to the rose heart brings you to a picturesque English formal garden, The duke's private rose garden itself. The freshest rose you can imagine, opened up by an enigmatic coniferous accord. It's a green rose, almost what you'd expect from a geranium chord, but the end behavior is a distinguished and fine woodland scent, with fleeting glimpses of a mellow citrus. Ecstasy, euphoria, ethereal elegance.
A tablespoon of cologne for $50? Your write-up of the scent is great. Mine would read, "it smells good". My write-up wouldn't be worth the price of admission. Thanks for sharing.
Obsession drives us to madness, doesn't it? This juice, sparse as it may be, is the pinnacle of my collection. Its historical value as well as its incredible formulation make it an all around winner. While I would rather pay $50 for a full bottle of the stuff, I'm content to receive a tablespoon for the same price. It should be enough for about 30 applications. I intend to wear it for formal events, so it ought to last a couple years. You do raise a good point, though. To the average bystander, Creed Windsor just "smells good". It's just another cologne, though, admittedly very different from what the average college student would wear. I wear cologne for my own enjoyment (mostly), which is where the emphasis in quality comes from. Most college students wear cologne to cover up the fact that they haven't bathed in a week :rofl Joanna, if you're interested in giving this stuff a whiff, and maybe trying to replicate it, I can send you a small vial. My only regret is that I didn't get 30ml.
You read my mind. Something that pricey is just begging for replication. The Perfumed Court has 1/2 ml vials, but I don't care for paying $6 shipping. (I also noticed their 15ml price was more than twice what you paid. So, congrats on the great price!) Then again, replicating isn't easy, and with the difference in budget between me and Creed the quality of my oils is not the same. Anyway, I'm up for the challenge, but can't guarantee success. I'll leave it up to you.
Nice review....What do you think about green irish tweed vs aventus? @aberneth or anyone else whose tried both...thinking bout getting one
Lol thanks.....perhaps hes on a journey for the worlds most magical cologne! Still an open question for anyone whose had either
Creed re-released Windsor and it's now called Royal Mayfair. I got in on a split and it's a interesting take on rose, definitely in the masculine side. I have no experience with the original but the two are reported to be similar.
