    OCtober Focus Day 16:

    Homemade PS Oil
    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Gem Micromatic OC
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    The Veg

I skipped yesterday as I just didn't need a shave and other took off from work, so I guess you could say I was lazy. So with two days growth, I used the Micromatic OC again, and I am still getting a bit of irritation. I also managed to shave off part of a mosquito bite on my cheek. I got a decent shave, DFS, but just feel a bit irritated on my neck. Tomorrow will be my last day with this razor for a while, as I am going on a business trip this week and will be using my Schick Type C1 while I am gone.

Poe eh? The blade and the pendulum? There isn't a blade named the Raven but Falcon and Eagle are close. Speaking of being awake all night I was as I have had to make a trip on a family issue, but I'm around and even brought my gear with me for a couple of days stay if necessary. I'm gonna grab a nap and be back. It's light out now so you can safely read my posts. :)

I'm glad you found a set up that works for you! I joke a lot about Arko, but it is truly a fantastic soap. I love the Omega boar brushes as well.

Clint, the Wolfman is a great looking razor. I'm glad you decided to try the shave sticks. In my experience, this helps the challenging soaps perform better. I got my L'Orange this week, have used it twice, and I love it.

OCtober 30 Day Focus -- Cadet Open Comb

    October 17

    Razor – Cadet Open Comb
    Blade – Gillette Silver Blue
    Brush – VDH Boar
Soap – Stirling Gin and Tonic
Post - Cold Water Splash, Witch hazel, TSD Bourbon Vanilla

Another excellent shave from the GSB/Cadet combo. Everything just clicked with this blade and razor combined. My fiancee declared it BBS and who am I to argue! Off to a couples wedding shower. I was really hoping to get out of most of these but oh well.

    Have a great weekend!!

    Gillette New LC
    Vulfix Super Badger (660)
    Proraso Sandalwood cream
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Shave #1 with the Rapira Swedish Supersteel in my New LC.
    IMG_1640.JPG
Did face lather and 2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG. Pass 2: ATG. Almost a DFS at this point. A cold water rinse followed by a fair amount of touch. I tried to catch the baby, but he got away. The Aqua Velva was mild.

A near BBS from the Rapira Swedish Supersteel in my New LC. This is the first time I've shaved with a NEW LC and I enjoyed it. Very comfortable. This one is courtesy of Tony, @Omaney. It seems to me that the NEW isn't quite as aggressive as the Old Type and that I don't need to be as careful with it. But I’ve only used it once, so that opinion may change. One thing that is changing is my opinion of the Rapira Swedish Supersteel. I had expected really good BBS shaves from this blade but have been disappointed. It was smooth enough today, but just didn’t measure up to what I expected after my experience with in the Fat Boy and Tech.

    Have a great weekend!

I really like the L'Orange as well. I picked up five 2.5 oz twist up deodorant sticks for $ 13 shipped and decided to make my own. I found that Mystic Water soaps are easier for me in stick the rest I made just to free up some space in the drawer.

    OCtober - Trick or TREET
    October 17

    Razor - Gillette 1947 Superspeed
    Blade - treet-platinum.jpg (1)
Brush - Vie Long 12601 The Pony
    Soap - Tabac
Post - Cold water, Alum, The Veg

Greetings from the center of Kansas. Had to take an unplanned overnight drive to help with my mother today. She needed to move to a different home and was giving my sister fits about everything, so the perfect son drove out to keep her entertained and help her settle in. My mother is 85 years old and has survived two rounds of breast cancer. Her mind isn't the best anymore and she and my sister butt heads a lot mostly due to Mom's refusal to go quietly into retirement and stop trying to be independent. But, she will probably still out live me and maybe everyone else too. She's like her mother, my grandmother.......can you say stubborn? May explain my attitude sometimes too. And speaking of stubborn, on to the next TREET!

Glad to see @Bama Samurai using a Treet for solidarity, but the next blade up is one I've used before and never had a problem with. It's a Platinum blade so shouldn't be a problem getting three shaves. Kind of a break between carbons that the shaving gods granted me. The razor is my '47 Superspeed that was replated by Chris at razorplate.com. Beautiful job. It is the first vintage I ever purchased. I'll get a pic up of it when I get home. I'm using my sister's computer and can get to existing pics through the cloud, but I want to take a new one. I threw in the Pony along with the BoS and also have MWF along for tomorrow's shave. Didn't want to get out of rotation just over a quick weekend trip.

The water here is soft due to my sister's water softener so the Tabac exploded into great lather for me. The Super Speed and Treet really gave a great smooth shave. Three passes, WTB, XTG, ATG and a bit of G slide to a near BBS finish. The spot under my chin where the Falcon chewed me up was a bit of a trick but all is good. No issues other than some extra alum burn there. Overall the alum was quiet, though the Veg had a bite. And, my mother was quite impressed with the Veg. Said I smelled very good. It reminded her of my grandfather which makes me wonder if it's just the old timey scent or if perhaps he used the Veg at one point. Well at least it brought back a good memory for her.

I'll be checking my phone and probably confiscate the computer for a bit later. Don't want you all to get too far ahead of me on here! Hope your weekend is going great!

Razor: Gillette Black Tip (X3) 1952
    Blade: Voskhod Teflon Coated (5)
    Brush: Omega 10066 Boar
    Soap: KnockOut Shave Cool Blue
    A/S: Fine Platinum
    Day 17

I don't see many using KnockOut shave soap on this forum, I do believe that it is a great shave soap. Very slick with a nice cooling feature. The Voskhod Teflon blade did not perform well tonight. I may have to change it tomorrow. Three passes tonight for A DFS. Fine Platinum is a great A/S.
