My wife and I were wandering around Lambertville, NJ today and we stopped into an antique store. We saw lots of interesting things and just as we were about to leave, this caught my eye. The shop was asking $48, but I got them down to $40 and it was still more than I cared to pay. But, it looked too nice to pass up. I'm now the proud owner of an Aristocrat. Any idea what year it is? There's no date code and the plating and finish looks much better in person than it does in the pictures and I still need to clean it up. To me it looks as though it was barely used. What kind of a shave can I expect from it? Thanks.
Had yet another cartridge handle appear in the mailbox yesterday. This one is a "Concord" from Italy. It's a very sturdy thing and weighs quite a bit. I do feel that there is too much at the end of the handle but we'll see when I take it for a spin. The "MSRP" for this razor is over $100 and I picked it up for less than 10% of that - but, quite honestly, I doubt most MSRPs and this one seems vastly inflated. Regardless, nice, solid handle that will be fun to try out. ...and hey, look at that - it can stand up. That's worth a buck
If you open it up look and see if it has the notch for the blade. If there is no notch it is a 46 or47 if there is it is a 48-50 most likely.
Nice. If it is un-notched, it is a 46-47. If it has a notch it is 48-50. The picture is of my Superspeeds; no notch on left, notch on right. I have the un-notched 46-47 Aristocrat, a great shaver.
I have aa 48-50 Aristocrat, my favorite. Gives me my smoothest most comfortable shaves. One of the best. From the condition you describe and in a case, I would say you got a fantastic buy.
There's no notch, so I must have the 46-47. I can't wait to try it out. It looks even better now that I've cleaned it up and it's a very hefty razor. I think I feel a bit better about the price I paid now. Dzia, I see you keep hours like me. I'm up before 4:00am Monday through Friday.

I got these along with a vintage strop as part of a small shaving lot. I've never tried shaving with a goodwill before.
