What did we learn from our last shaves?

I'm learning to get the most of the WTG pass on my face. I can shave my taint ATG with a scalpel, but my cheeks, not so much.

 

Shaving around the beard is not very captivating. This is the first time in my life I've really missed a full shave every morning.

 

I learned that I like longer handles. The 39c is very comfortable to hold. I didn't think it was all that aggressive at all...but definitely more efficient. Also learned that my technique needed a lot of work and made a lot of corrections today. Great shave tonight!

Gentlemen, from my last shave...

I learned (decided) that FB on 9 is a bit much for certain blades. 8 felt much smoother.

 

I learned that I just can't do the Merkur 39c. It's such a nice razor. But its soooo aggressive. I've tried everything. Different blades, riding the cap, no pressure, doesn't matter. It eats me up. So I'm selling it. So... If you're interested, head over to the classifieds lol

 

Sorry it didn't work for you, it is a nice razor indeed! I just got mine last week....I'm loving it. Hope someone scoops it up from you.

 

I just realized that I miss this thread. Figured I'd try to resurrect it, particularly for the newer folks who might not have seen it before.

After spending nearly the entire month of February using only MWF, I learned that I really enjoy my scents far too much to do that again. Mitchell's is a good performer for me, but not something I could make a regular part of my rotation.

 

I learned that I get better lathering results with a "soaked" synthetic brush. Just like my boars. I thought I could skip the soaking brush while showering routine with a synthetic brush (RR Plissoft BTW) but turns out not really. No big deal, just something I learned from my last shave.

 

During the recent Feb-focus I really gained the insight into that I much prefer Finest/tw0-band badgers to Silvertips.

 

My Hart needs to be touched up

I am trying to use up a couple soap/creams and I too really miss variety.

 

Recent discovery (not today): I learned that the cap to the 41c and the Bamboozled RAKE are not interchangeable for Franken-razor purposes.

 

I learned what I've been seeing from reviews and hearing from people..when it comes to Clubman aftershaves, the 6 oz. is better than the bulk-sized "Country-Club"(which I used to have). The "O" word is on the 6 oz...."ORIGINAL(Clubman Fragrance)."

 

Can you tell me more about MWF as far performance for sensitive skin so far I found that LEA has both lanolin and glycerin, this combination works great.

 

I don't really suffer from sensitive skin, and I've never tried LEA, so it's hard for me to say. If you don't have lanolin allergies, then I don't know of any reason why Mitchell's wouldn't be fine. It is very lightly scented. It's not unpleasant, but it's just a simple soap smell. I'm a big fan of heavily scented soaps like Stirling.

I learned nothing and kept my shaving ignorance level at status quo. But I do love this thread!

 

I have never used LEA, but I can testify that MWF is amazing for sensitive skin. I live in Alberta Canada and winters can be extremely harsh (definitely dry), I tend to use MWF throughout winter because my skin can't handle the winters here. It always keeps my face nice and healthy!

I have since moved to a much more moderate part of the province, but MWF will always be a favorite of mine!

 

I learned that my DE89 started losing its plating and that I still like using my Slim.
