Thank you Doug. I hope you have a great weekend. Now this photo should be in the calendar for a fall month for sure.
Glad I could save you some money. The best thing about the scent is it is pretty much gone by the time I finish face lathering. It's a good soap but I actually prefer TSD soaps to Latha in general and even more so with the scent choices.
Ah, the ode to the Feather blade. Probably the best blade I've never tried. I shouldn't say that too loud, I'd hate to not be able to visit my local IHOP. I will try it some day, honest! I even have a couple tucks of them. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Just the honey do list for the weekend for the most part. But I will be finishing my Rubberset 400-4 this weekend and setting the knot in an Ever-Ready 500 for Mark @Boojum1
When I first tried Feather blades, I hated them with a passion. Fast forward a year and with my technique solid, it is my preferred DE blade.
I heard that they were uber sharp and will nick you if you don't pay attention and sometimes even if you do. Figured I'd wait till my technique was better before I took them on. I'll probably end up trying them before the end of the year.
I've seen some butt kissing in my day but I can say this effort goes above and beyond. The attempt to appeal to the cartel by invoking the Arch is masterful. I think you got both cheeks with that one! A for effort but a B overall........a reference to the Feather being shaving heaven as Busch Stadium is baseball heaven.......or perhaps Feather fans are the best fans in shaving as Cards fans are the best fans in baseball.....now THAT would have gotten the true A! Oh, and Voskhod is still better.
Thank you, Neal, for the kind words and for being such a good sport. I remember the St. Louis Arch from my trips to STL as a kid. It is an awesome sight. Plus, I knew that it would get you fired up. I have considered getting some Russian DE blades. I have these pesky callouses... Looks like we'll both be using our Feather AC kamisori's for NOVember. Birds of a Feather, so to speak. We can compare war stories all month long. I hope your new job is going well. Have a great weekend!
Awesome! Someone to bleed with. I love it. The new job is great. I'm actually still working, just putting in some final dispositions for the day and hitting a few last houses. I'm working in the Tower Grove area this month so getting to see some great old STL architecture. And fewer thugs here than North City. Less keeping one eye over my shoulder.
For those who may have missed it, @Bama Samurai has started a NOVember group! That's a No-Variation month for November. You can check it out HERE if you missed the earlier link in the sentence. Since I was still on the fence for November's focus I figured why not? It's really a 30 day rule by another name and I can use one of those with my Feather SS so why not. It's not something you have to do for the 30 day group but if you want to join in check it out! Here is my kit for November, to start, obviously, November 1st. Razor - Feather SS Artist Club Blade - Kai Captain Titan Mild AC Brush - Omega 10066 - the BoS Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat - the FAT Alum and Styptic for application beneath bandages as necessary. Not shown - Medical insurance card and last will and testament. After shaves are NOT included in the no variation rule but I am assuming I'll want the balm most of the time until I can smooth this thing out a bit. I will not, I repeat NOT be using a DE setup to finish shaves with. It's the Feather SS ONLY and the result is what the result is. Obviously my goal is to achieve perfect shaves with the razor by the end of the month. I've improved with it every time I've used it and it's time to pull it out and get it down pat.
