With a B2 you can only shim a Feather Pro and that does not make it equal to a Feather Super Pro. Really it does no good to shim it when you can just use the Super Pro. Just get the Feather Super Pro Blade.

If it isn't aggressive enough with a pro super in it then you have bought the wrong razor. The mongoose doesn't have the room for any kind of shim.

It's perfect the way it is....

I agree with you if a Pro Super is not aggressive enough then the Mongoose is the wrong razor choice. With a Pro Super blade it is a fantastic blend of a smooth and aggressive razor.

However, on a B2 you can shim it but not with a guard blade or a Pro Super since the pins are not long enough with those thicker blades. A shim can only be used with the regular Kai and Feather blades. Even shimmed it is not as aggressive as a Pro Super blade. I tried my Mongoose with a Feather and a shim earlier this year for a week or so and just moved on to the Super.

Do you think that there is (or will be) a difference in blade alignment from B23 to B3? Or are that just an "optical" thing?

I got my mongoose today but can't get the head to thread about 1/8 of the way in likes about 1/2in to bottom out. The blades can't be that thick. I got both handles and both are like that.

Did you remove the black little o-ring that is there just for shipping?

Yes sir. The gap is about two time the thickness of the black o-ring. It looks to me that neither handle was threaded. I know everybody's human and can make mistakes. Has anybody heard of this form a mongoose before. I'm assuming the blades aren't 1/2 thick.

That's really interesting. I did have a 'flawed' Mongooses but it was all cosmetics and they took care of it right away (had me send it back, paid for my shipping cost and sent me a replacement razor that was fantastic).

Would you be able to take and post some close-up photos here of the threads/handle where the issue is?

Today i received my Mongoose. I'm so happy and proud.

Tomorrow will be my first shave with it. Blade will be a Kai Captain Titan Mild (3rd shave).

    Very curious...:)

Have you tried a different handle. I guess you can see the threads on the cap stem.

Do the pins line up when you put the blade in?

I've only tried the two handles that came with the mongoose. I have other handles from razors like ikons webers will they fit?

Take a Q-Tip laden with WD-40 and chase down the threads inside the handle to remove any residual metal that might have remained. I have had handles (not Mongoose) where there has been substantial remaining metal from the threading process.

I would try this. Or even take the nozzle of the WD40 and squirt inside the threads to flush out any remaining metal.

The beauty of the Q-Tip is that it will snag filings and pull them out. I should have photographed what I pulled from a custom handle maker's handle...it was unacceptable.

That would be strange to have 2 bad handles.
