No Variation November - A TSD Challenge

Adjust away! AS isn't a part of this, nor is prep.

One brush, one soap, one brand of blades, one razor. All month. No other rules.

 

I wish the participants good luck.... but I just can't do it. For the same reason I am single I like variety to much. I did do this when I learned to shave with a DE and it is a huge help.

 

Still not sure about my setup ... torn between two scenarios.

First I thought of something like "back to the roots" that would be

- first razor: Mühle 89R
- first brush: Edwin Jagger Best Badger
- first cream: Mr Taylors Shaving cream
- first blade was Personna Platinum, but I did not like it that much and have only 3 left, not enough for a month. So I'd switch to Gillette Silver Blue instead - the first I really loved

But on the other hand I know all this equipment pretty well, so there's no actual challenge involved (apart from not being able to try new stuff). I could lather that shaving cream with a toothbrush, if necessary

So I guess I'll better give some new hardware the chance to grow on me. Waiting for a Vie-Long horsehair brush to arrive from Spain, so it will be either that or my Semogue 620 which I still haven't mastered completely.
Razor: either Merkur 34c or, if it arrives in time, the Phoenix DOC
Blade: I think I'll go with Sputnik
Toughest choice will be the soap. I think that' going to be a last-minute-decision between I Coloniali Mango and D.R. Harris Sandalwood

Without a doubt I vote for the '58 Exec (in case you wondered). Wonderful razor, love mine. Much better than a SS IMO.

 

All this talk of using a Feather AC NOvember got me thinking. My October focus has been on DE blades and has started to get boring. I have a Feather AC SS that I have used five times prior to today. Always with a DE touch up. I decided to shave with it today without using a DE at all. I did a two pass shave, one WTG, one ATG. I got a decent shave that I would call DFS. I had three small weepers, but no open wounds which is progress for me. I am thinking that this thing would not get boring and it might be fun chasing BBS with it.

If nothing else, I envy the amount of sink area this provides you for shaving gear!

I probably should not say it, but yes there is allot of sink area and lots of room in the bathroom for shaving gear.

 

Sent two vintage gillette's to razor emporium last week for tune up, they should be back in November, I have no will power over this, I am not in, but thanks.

 

Ive been thinking the same thing regarding using stuff im already comfortable with. I think I'll change my brush choice to one of my boar brushes that I haven't broke in yet.

 

This is a great way to break in a new boar brush!

 

I will attempt this but I may cheap when the box tour box comes to me. The kit I've decided on is a Y2 super speed, Proraso red in the tub and my 20mm WD synthetic.

I haven't decided on a blade yet but I only have enough of 2 choices. German Wilkinson blades or dorco new platinum blades.

 

And if there isn't a rumor started by noon Adam will do that too.

 

That makes three of us on the Feather SS for November. Yeah, we rock.
