Planned Shave Den Sunday! 1959 Gillette Fat Boy Astra Superior Platinum L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic TSD ISZ Shave Stick Alum TSD ISZ AS Splash Have a Super Sunday!
October 18, 2015 My first shave with my new Mongoose lands on Shave Den Sunday! Hot Shower Soap: TSD Unscented Brush: Omega 31025 Scarlatti Boar Razor: Mongoose (Batch 3) Blade: Feather Pro Guard TSD Witch Hazel Aftershave: TSD Aqua di Gio Smooth. I can't think of a better way to describe the experience. I've only been traditional wetshaving for 6 months, using only vintage razors - DEs, SEs, injectors, etc. This was my first 'modern' razor.Everyone talks about the weight, so I knew to expect it. The head is unique and I used advice from @clint64 to approach the angle like an injector. Also used his advice for well-hydrated lather. It all fell neatly together - a smooth stroke - a razor this heavy demands no pressure. It seems to let you know that your hand is just there to guide it and set the angle, angle - finding it is about like using an injector - you start with its angled face against yours and tip the handle from there as needed, glide - as advised, I had no issue using a slightly thinner lather than I usual use and had no glide/cushion issues at all. With a two-day growth, I chose a three-pass shave. I think I could have just used two passes (XTG/ATG) but I wanted to extend the shave and get more feel for the razor. The result was as good or better than any first shave with any other razor I've used. Of all the razors I've used, the Gillette New LC is as close as I've come to a favorite razor. The handful of shaves I've had with it have been near flawless. The Mongoose, after one shave, demands its place alongside the New and a lot more time from me to realize it's full potential. I intend to do a 30-Day Focus on it in November. Smooth - the design, the process, the shave and my face! Play Ball! RT
October 25 New LC head on Mongoose "Dr. Bomber" handle Feather (1) Semogue 830 TSD unscented Two passes Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Fine Platinum A near-BBS, two-pass shave and a great way to start a Sunday. I really enjoy my OCtober set-up. The Feather Artist Club SS will be a real change of pace in NOvember. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

October 25, 2015 Shave Den Sunday Fell off my OC October to prep for No Variation November. I’ll be using a Mongoose in NoVember, so I need to determine a blade for that month. (Spoiler Alert: I think I found it!) Morning shave Hot Shower Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery G12 Soap: TSD Lanolin Unscented Brush: Butterscotch Fauxmere Razor: Mongoose B3 Blade: Feather Artist Club Professional (1) TSD Witch Hazel Aftershave: TSD Yin Yang Two-pass shave. Observations: Damp, cold weather has started to move into Seattle. I’ll appreciate using the scuttle for the next 5 - 6 months! Warm lather…mmmmmm. This blade passed the test. I’ll be getting a 30-day supply for NoVember. Though if I’m to believe some of the hype from the Mongoosers - I may only need two blades! (We’ll see - YMMV) All the time while I was shaving and as I sit here two hours later just rubbing my hands over my smooth face I’m reminded of the Big Red Button at that office supply store! And I always seem to enjoy Shave Den Sunday! Cheers! RT
Razor: Gillette Red Tip (A3) 1955 Blade: Gillette Platinum (6) Brush: Black Badger Wood Handle (Grandfather's) Whipped Dog 20/65 Soap: TSD Coconut A/S: TSD Coconut Day 25 Excellent shave with my favorite TSD soap and A/S.
