no, the tail and based are gold plated. the head cap is red brass(plating is gone). I added copper. so now I'll use it and let it petina naturally. the end result should be triple colored.

Brian, with all the birthdays going on this month and in this thread I would swear you're trying to start a fire.
I've been tossing around having my New replated or ceracoated keeping the top plate copper looking (or rose gold) the bottom plate & comb gold the rest of the bar handle the same as the top plate. I like the reddish look on top.

Play Ball! RT
You are one baseball fan. I used to love playing the game. It once was my passion. Then I got married. Lost its luster. Good luck to your team, my friend.

After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Lilac Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
today I used; Gillette New Standard(ndc) circa early thirties this razor had a badly cracked handle. more importantly, it fell to pieces every time it was disassembled. I refurbished the handle at home. it performed very well with the new mods. I hoping the end result to be a tri-color, unique razor that I had a hand in making.
I wondered about the copper, great idea. Is that just a piece of standard copper tubing? Looks sort of industrial now, but the patina you mention should look really nice later.
October 26 Standard 160 Goodwill Astra SP (1) My latest eBay purchase arrived on Saturday, a Goodwill. Cost me $12 shipped. Except for a couple of spots on the cap, the original gold plating is in very good shape. The handle is a bit worrisome, though, as it has a two cracks (a short one at each end) and the collet and ball are both a little loose, though not enough so far to prevent using it. As for the shave... this is probably one of the closest shaves I've ever had, even closer than my 20's Old Type. One-and-a-half-passes to a DFS with no weepers and virtually no irritation. I confess that I'm constantly amazed at how well these early Gillette models shave and get really confused as to what later changes such as solid safety bars were supposed to improve. After this month is over, I definitely need to spend some time with my SS and SA to see if I can duplicate these results. JR
