    October 26

    Razor - Gillette '46-'47 Aristocrat
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Brush - Vie-Long 12601 The Pony
    Soap - Tabac
Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea Original

Slight change in the plan for this next setup. I had originally included the Schick Krona in the razor selection when I randomized the order. But, the Aristocrat is back home and I'm going to switch it in so it's an all Gillette razor month. The next blade up is the Treet Classic Carbon. This blade has been around a long time and is a silver carbon, though it gives you a flash of blue when you turn it in the light. I used it in March for Vintage and Carbon month and it was an ok blade then, just didn't last well. I am going to change to the new way of caring for carbon, basically what Treet recommends, by not removing it and trying to preserve it. Just leave it in the razor and keep it out of the humid bathroom after using it. It's worked pretty well so far with the others. Lather is provided today by the Pony and Tabac. Didn't have any issues with that today. Great lather.

First pass with the Classic was surprising. And in a good way which isn't always the case. Very smooth. And very quiet unlike most carbons. Second pass continued the trend XTG and the final ATG with G-slides on the neck was very good as well. Really no problems, incredibly smooth feel and effective........to a point. The finish was a DFS but a middle of the road DFS. That's fine with me as I rarely care about the baby, but three passes usually gets me very close to the BBS or right on it. The Classic isn't the sharpest of blades so a middle DFS is probably the best it can do, at least in this razor, I'm just amazed it didn't tug and pull on the way. Alum proved no real irritation. Very quiet. So, I think this is the best the blade can do. Quiet, efficient and injury free.....who can't get behind a shave like that? Now, will it go three days? We'll see. And it begs another question or two. Would a more aggressive razor help it produce a higher quality shave? Perhaps. And, if this really is the best it can do then what does it bring to the table against other carbons like the Black Beauty and Silver? Yeah, I see another focus looming in the planning stages.

Hope your week is off to a good start! The commute in some places this morning was a bit crowded!

I have to figure how best to get the brush loaded or the soap on my face. Mike's in a tube is not as easy to smear on your beard as Mystic Water, which is a softer soap. Perhaps I will turn the tube upside down in some warm water while I shower.

I like tried on my face first three times then resorted to slicing off a sliver and putting in my shave bowl. Didn't think about soaking in warm water sounds like a good solution.

10/26/2015 Open Comb October!! / Menthol Monday!! Woo Hoo!!

Prep: Hot shower with Neutrogena Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: FaTip Picolo, Imperial Razor Warranted Barbers Favorite straight razor
    Blade: Astra SP (5)
    Brush: Turkish #6

Cologne: Prada - Amber Pour Homme Intense

Welcome to Menthol Monday! The Barbon was whipped up nicely by the #6 brush. The FaTip and the Barbers Favorite worked their magic on the stubble. The Barbon AS and the Amber Pour Homme Intense were a nice finish for this Darn Fine Shave +.

Used one of my recently acquired Atra cartridges and plopped it onto the Atra "Deluxe" (in lack of better name for it).
Had a great shave. Love the length and weight of the metal handle. I did find the Atra to be a bit more tuggy than say Mach 3 cartridges.

In the end I walked away with a clean, close shave and no bloodshed :)

I also used the AoS badger travel brush this morning for the first time. Good and bad.
Good: A really good lathermachine and I rather liked it as a face lathering brush.
Bad: Man, it reeks. Gonna take a few uses before that gets better.

Love Floid Blue and i Coloniali Mango.

    SHAVE OF THE DAY

    sotd73.jpg

    PREP: MUSGO REAL ORANGE AMBER
    RAZOR: GILLETTE BALL END TECH
    BLADE: LORD STAINLESS
    BRUSH: OMEGA S SYNTHETIC
    SOAP: HASLINGER SEAWEED
    POST: B&M FOUGERE CLASSIQUE

Had a good 3 pass shave this morning. First time with the Haslinger soap, it whipped up a nice lather. I was amazed at how much water the soap I threw at the soap and didn't get runny and stayed a thick consistency. I think it is time to retire this blade, I lost count of the number of shaves on it, but it is a lot. It seems like the shaves get better as the blade gets older so I kept using it. Finished off with Fougere Classique which has a nice scent, and like all the other B&M aftershaves it feels great on the skin and was a perfect finish to a great shave. Hope everyone has a great shave and a great day!

Busy day. Good shave tonight. The Gillette Platinum blade made it through the week and still made for a DFS. New to the Nivea cream, and it worked very well. Aqua Velva Ice Blue is still a great A/S.

Mennen Skin Bracer AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:

I had a tough time making my selection for this shave but finally I think I chose some really good stuff. The Edwin Jagger Menthol cream has terrific lather, its scent is nice enough, and the menthol effect is not powerful but it can certainly be felt. The skincare of this cream is very good. I'm so in love with the Lucky Tiger a/s cream for its cooling and soothing feeling which feels so good. The Skin Bracer is one of my all-time favourites which I need at ALL times in my aftershave rotation! ;) :D
