    Shave of the day

Pre- Hot shower, Jumping Juniper shampoo cake from Lush
    Soap/cream- Grönlycka whisked shave soap
    Brush- Plisson synthetic
Razor- WEBER polished head all stainless steel
    Blade- Personna lab blue(1)
Post- Cold water rinse, Humphreys witch hazel, Speick aftershave lotion and Nivea sensitive cooling aftershave balm

Second use on this swedish shave soap, its a very good performer. Im so Happy about that. The scent reminds me of Lemongrass a lot, witch I love!

The lather doesn't have a lot of volume. It's thick, slick and protective though =) you would guess that it's gonna be difficult to rinse off of the razor but it's not. Very nice soap.

It was a long time ago since I used my speick aftershave and I love it. My Nivea balm is almost finished, I need to get another one SOON!

I'm having a little trouble with some break outs on my skin lately, I don't know why

    Tyr's Day:

Prep: Hot shower, Healthy Accents Daily Renewal Cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpsons 56 Best Badger
    Lather: Ginger's Garden Oakmoss soap
    Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (4)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (8, 9)
Post: Cold water rinse, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's witch hazel, Speick AS splash
    Cologne: Burberry Brit

I was marginally surprised at just how creamy the lather was this AM, using the Oakmoss a second day in a row. There may be a lesson there about the pros and cons of rotating through soaps rapidly. While the lather was outstanding, the blade died in the razor somewhere during the second pass, and I could feel it start to tug. This prompted me to call it sufficient at 2 passes, with DFS results but some razor burn, which the Speick helped some. There will be a new blade tomorrow.

Soaked the Tabac puck and the Rubberset 400 #3 Omega Boar (an early @clint64 restore) while I showered. Tabac Soap has an excellent mellow scent, lathers easily into a thick creamy lather. The lubrication was outstanding. Both razors shaved comfortably with no irritation. The skin care was top notch. Finished today with a coating of Shea Butter and a couple of generous splashes of Tabac After Shave. Ready for an evening out. Hope you are all having a good day my friends.

Yes, you read it right. A slight change in the program today. Thanks to a certain individual, yes you @Bama Samurai , who mentioned yesterday that 1) my shaves seem to be less entertaining than usual and 2) the Rapira razor would be the final test of a blade, I substituted it in to today's shave. Also because once the idea of trying it with a carbon started bouncing around inside my skull it just wouldn't go away.

Also, said @Bama Samurai used Proraso in his shave and it reminded me that I've still got that even though it gets ignored more now in preference of the Fat, Tabac and TSD. Having that cool menthol and eucalyptus might just save this shave from disaster. But wait, my technique is strong enough to overcome the mighty crappy Rapira. Yeah, we can hope right?

So, lathering with the big boar today and as always Proraso performs flawlessly. Nice to get that scent again and yes, it feels great and cool on my face. So let's grab the Rapira and get to work. In case you're forgotten what it looks like (and you've probably tried) here it is.
    Rapira.jpg

Fine Russian engineering in this tin can and plastic razor sort of thing. The blade is aligned with corner tabs that fit into the tabs on the corners of the blade. Sort of. I had it aligned as good as I can get it and the other thing you notice is how little it bends the blade, creating an extra bit of gap that doesn't even look safe. But hey, (fill in the blanks).....what's the _____ that can _____?

First pass and yeah, I remember this thing and not totally fondly. Surprisingly it wasn't as bad as the last time though the angle creates an aggressiveness that's really deceiving. Finished the pass and thought to myself, "wow, that Proraso is really starting to tingle nicely". Went second pass XTG and about halfway through realized it wasn't the Proraso tingling..... it was the irritation burning. Ended the second pass with a very high CCS, nearly DFS, and sanity took over. Done for the day. Don't push it. Set the razor down and back away slowly. Well that moment of clarity melted away leaving me to lather again and go ATG. Yes, ATG with the Rapira. To say that it's an experience is to totally understate it. Feel the burn. The only thing left in my normal routine is Gillette Slides on the neck. I looked myself in the eye and said nope, not gonna do it, as I relathered my neck (and noticed the blood on my right jawline near the goatee.....at least I didn't feel that, probably because of the overall burning). Rapira sliding is similar to Gillette sliding with one difference. The level of irritation it raises. My neck finished a nice bright red color. Well, we can call it a dark pink. Just clean healthy skin right? No more blood than the one spot so now I can call it done.

Alum time. As bad as I expected. That all over WOW that HURTS burn. Added a nice layer of Nivea to try and return things to cool and normal color. Didn't help a lot but I'm still standing. But now, what to determine about the shave, particularly the blade?

Honestly, I think the blade did a fantastic job given the fact it was locked into a horrible razor. Because of that horrid angle the blade is held at it's nearly impossible not to cut yourself. And, it provides a level of aggressiveness that could shave a Russian bear (except the humane society would forbid it as cruelty). I am happy that only one nick/cut appeared because it does tell me I adjusted well to the problems with the razor and overcame them to achieve a DFS in the end. Now, to the aforementioned @Bama Samurai and all the rest................

SHAVE OF THE DAY- WALK IN THE WOODS WEEK
    sotd74.jpg

    PREP: MUSGO REAL OAKMOSS
    RAZOR: 1953 GILLETTE TECH
    BLADE: RAPIRA STAINLESS
    BRUSH: EVERREADY BADGER-LON
    SOAP: TIKI INTO THE FOREST
POST: OSAGE RUB/ MUSGO REAL AFTERSHAVE

3 pass DFS today. @Jasman started a walk in the woods theme week, so i figured it would be a great time to use the Tiki Into the forest soap. It has a very unique scent and no trouble whipping up a nice lather. This shave went very smoothly today, almost felt like there wasn't a blade in the razor. Only got 1 nick which was my fault for going against the grain by my bottom lip. Finished off with Musgo Real which has an awesome classic scent. Hope everyone has a great shave and a great day!!!
