Any aftershaves for oily skin? Right now I'm using Proraso blue. I've seen threads in which is recommended to use alcohol splashes, but I also read that alcohol isn't good for the skin.

Alcohol will dry out your skin. That's generally considered a 'bad thing', though no one's died from it in the last 400 years or so. :D

If you live in the U.S., ordinary store brand Witch Hazel is fantastic as an aftershave, or as a base coat for your follow-up aftershave. It does contain 14% alcohol.

Avoid balms, as they will increase the oiliness of your skin. It's good to keep at least one around for emergencies- like bad razor burn. Nivea sensitive balm is the #1 recommendation by wet shavers.

As for alcohol based aftershaves, if you want to go traditional, there's Old Spice, Pinaud Clubman, Aqua Velva, and Brut. These are often called 'drugstore brands' or 'bottom shelf' aftershaves, though each was a premium aftershave in it's day. The fact that they are still around is testament to the classic and timeless scents each one uses.

Then there are the truly classic aftershaves. Bay Rum, Russian Leather, Lavender and Lime. Each had many different manufacturers, though only Bay Rum has remained widespread.

European aftershaves. Myrsol and Floid are the classics here, though there are also a few lavander splashes from Portugal and Spain that make the list. Also Speick and Tabac, from Germany.

Finally, from the shave Den shop, Shave Milk is the universal elixir. Good for all skin types.

    Yup. All that.
Been using alcohol-based aftershaves almost every day for near 40 years and I've had zero issues.

I still use products with alcohol (Clubman and TendSkin) but the one thing that has helped the most with my oily skin has been introducing a moisturizer into the mix. I started using Nivea Creme as a pre-shave as well as most nights before bed. My oiliness has been way better for the past 4 or 5 months since doing that. I've also tried Cornhusker's lotion, which is mostly glycerin and water (at my dermatologist's recommendation). That actually seems to make the oiliness worse for me, so you might limit your glycerin products.

Like your safety razor and blade choice after shaves and balms are very much a YMMV type of thing. The only way to really know what will work for you is to try them all..:happy08:
I also have oily skin and live in the humid south which makes it worse, the AS regimen that I use is Nivea After Shave Balm, followed by the drugstore splash of the day.:) I use Corn Huskers Lotion as my preshave.

Piling on a bit late here, but +1 on the moisturizer recommendation. It sounds counter-intuitive, I know, but for me it was all about finding the right balance. After years of attacking my skin with drying astringents, washes and aftershaves, I finally relented to the idea that perhaps my skin wasn't an enemy to be attacked. Especially if you go with a harsher alcohol-based aftershave, following up with a light moisturizer will help keep your skin from kicking into overdrive oil production.

I have sensitive/oily skin and Speick is the best aftershave I have experienced for skin conditioning. Witch Hazel also good.

I have oily skin. I always finish my shave with witch hazel and then Pinaud or Aqua Velva after shave. It helps.
