1. Stellar work, Steve. I like the looks of this one!
  2. Worked it with The Shave Den Victorian Rose soap today. :D Tomorrow we'll try some TOBS cream.
  3. Very nice :D That is a really great looking brush Steve :drool :drool
  4. This brush does a nice job with creams as well.

Here's another comparison shot. This time next to the 2007Custom.

These two brushes may be all I'll ever need. ;)
I've shared as much as I can about this brush cause I know some of you are interested in the knot. This brush cuts a wide swath and lays down a lot of lather.
    I'm happy! :happy108
  5. :drool

Must get a brush like that.

    Great pics, Steve :D
  6. I never knew you could get a brush with a 'high top fade'!:D

    Looks good!

  7. Hello,

Maybe this has been covered, but I need some enlightenment.

What makes a $60 brush better than the brush that came in my generic Van der Hagen cheapo brush?

    Thanks,

    Jim
  8. Lovely brush Steve !
  9. Depends on your need, but on a general level I'd say "Nothing"... Just as;

    - a $20 Wapi does the same job as a $800 Mastro Livi
    - a Ford Taurus does the same job as a Lexus LX
    - a puck of Williams Shave Soap does the same job a bowl of Acca Kappa
    etc etc

A matter of style, taste and wallet...
  10. Nothing?! I beg to differ, my friend...or at least elaborate. :) Yes, they do the same thing and yes, it's a matter of style, taste and wallet. But it's ALSO a matter of feel and performance!

Before I even knew they still made good shaving brushes, I spent many, many years shaving with a "Barbershop Genuine Bristle" brush and a cake of Williams soap. Worth less than $10. When I finally discovered the "good stuff", I was amazed at how much better the lather was, how much nicer it felt on my face...and how I actually looked forward to shaving because of that.

Yes, they all make lather and allow you to apply it to your face, but the similarities end there.
  11. Its the difference between basic necessity and the enjoyment of luxury. Life is too short so go for the luxury. Especially nice shaving luxury is for the most part inexpensive !
  12. I did write:
and yes, there are more parameters, as well as in all the other "examples" I gave.
    So

pretty much sums it up IMO...
  13. That was too easy. Are you being overworked again ?
  14. As a matter of fact... Yes!
  15. I think you need to reward yourself with a new brush...a GOOD one though (one with some style)!!! :rofl
  16. Self gratification... isn't that what it's all about? :p And I have ordered my "reward" but it has a 5 month leadtime :D
  17. Five months for a Tweezerman?! Who knew?

    :)
  18. Yeah, but it's a special one :p
  19. It never ends with Johan ! I would have thought the Livi visit and razor would have lasted at least a couple months ?
  20. Oh... it only whet my appetite!
