Just a heads up for anyone interested but Stirling has their brush factory seconds in stock. http://www.stirlingsoap.com/factory-seconds-synthetic-shave-brush-26mm/
The trick really seems to be to stay up on the cap enough to force the blade into the right angle. It has such a slight bend to it that if you try the usual 30-35% angle you're just going to remove a layer of skin.
It's on my must try list. Schick injectors in general were a breakthrough in shaving comfort. The thicker and stiffer injector blade (versus DE) forced me to learn to shave well. But, once the learning curve passed, comfy DFS+ Became automatic.
I have an idea! We won't bid on them, you can just swoop them all up and send them to us. It will be way cheaper that way...
Precisely, I dumped the Fat Boy for a day earlier this month to see what a disposable was like, not to bad... I actually completely agree. Each head design has it's attributes. What I have really noticed about how the FB is that the dial seems to change the shave way more than on a Slim, and the FB is more aggressive in general. It seems that really sharp blades like GSB work well on 7, while a slightly less sharp blade can go all the way to 9. It has really been a different than the slim. It took a couple of different tries to shave well under the nose, but the FB can handle it. I feel like the FB is pretty much the pinnacle of TTO and adjustable design, and after 2015, the FB will be the only vintage TTO I keep! The razor will be sent for restoration, and I have decided to make it the "Charlie Danger" model...GunKote with red indicator and numbers (unless you think a different scheme is better, I do want it to be the Charlie Danger model!) Had considered nickel or chrome, but think your suggestion rules the day! I will proudly keep it in use for years to come.
Definitely worth a look. Were I in the market for a brush, I would do this. Synthetics are face lather champs.
The DOC is a solid razor! Losing 75 pounds at age twenty is gonna add years to your life, save your back and knees and help out your heart and lungs. Wear that new jacket proudly! You earned it.
That's interesting data, I happen to know that my water is some of the hardest in the country. I still think that it's probably just a matter of water ratio. I feel like Arko can really take a lot of water, but next time I use it will try to pay better attention to how the lather develops. Be sure to comment on La Toja too, I wonder how it will do.
October 28, 2015 SOTD - World Series - Game 2 Finishing up on OC October. I've introduced myself to four OC razors. Gillette New LC Schick Type C1 Standard Safety Razor Gillette Goodwill PLANNED - Morning shave Hot Shower Soap: Barrister & Mann Diamond Shave Soap Brush: Omega Pro 48 Boar Razor: Gillette Goodwill Blade: 7 o’clock (Blues) (3) TSD Witch Hazel Aftershave: Old Spice 1967 The longest Game 1 in World Series history last night - 14 innings! Tough one to lose for the Amazins, but ya gotta win FOUR. Long night for everyone, another game tonight. "This ain't a football game, we do this every day." - Earl Weaver, manager Baltimore Orioles 1968-82, 1985-86. Play Ball! RT
GunKote finish with red highlights indicates the presence of danger...very appropriate for a Charlie Danger model.
OCtober Focus Day 27: Homemade PS Oil Stirling Synthetic Brush TSD Lanolin Iced Sub-zero Gillette New LC Stirling Unscented PSB -- Mentholated Florida Water AS I tried to keep myself to just a single pass this morning to see how this razor and Voskhod would do. I did have to do just a but of clean up on my jaw line, but I ended up with a CCS and no irritation. It really was a pretty good shave.
Great Idea! Yes, I'd love one of those too, but goodness, the prices already seem high - even for the ones crusted in grunge.
10/28/15 Gillette NEW LC Vulfix Super Badger (660) Proraso Sandalwood cream Aqua Velva Ice Blue Shave #3 with the second Gillette Silver Blue in my New LC. Face lather and 2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG. Great reduction. Pass 2: ATG. Rinsed and did some minor touch up where I could easily feel stubble. Very nice DFS at that point. A cold water rinse followed by a very small amount of touch up and the baby came home. The Aqua Velva was mild today. Felt a hint of stubble on my neck as I rubbed it in, but nothing once it dried. Another nice BBS from the Gillette Silver Blue in my New LC. The GBS has given me three very comfortable shaves. I really like this blade. I also really like the Proraso cream. I'm running a bit low, so I'll need to order some in the next couple of weeks. Have a great Wednesday!
