Just in this afternoon - two great soaps! By the way, they're from two different countries - here they are: 1x First Canadian Shave Company Polar Vortex SS (perhaps a competitor to the Stirling Glacials!) 1x Matas SS (my first-ever shaving soap from Denmark!) Who can guess which one I'm going to try tomorrow? Also several packs of Astra blades!
What what what? A Danish shaving soap. Now I want a Fitjar/Brutalt Bra(NO)-Gron Lycka(SE) and Matas(DK) lather-off! What's next a Finnish shaving soap?
Oh and where did you find the Matas soap btw? Matas would, by the way, be on the complete opposite end on the Artisan-Corporate scale. It's a bit like if Walgreens came out with their own soap
My Schick B1 repeater showed up today. Before and after Photo from ebay (I took a flyer on this one) A quick polish with Silvo It turned out pretty good considering I only put 10 minutes into it. The blade repeater mechanism works flawlessly which was an added bonus.
Picked up an eShave badger brush for $20. Not 100% sure on what the the knot is but assume it's just Pure or something like that. We'll see. ...and an antique, silver plated shaving stick holder by Derby around 1890-1910.
Thanks, my B2 looks brand new but doesnt load blades very well. This B1 looks like it was used and abused for the last 80 yrs but the blade injector mechanism works awesome. Im wondering if maybe my B2 had issues when it was new and then never used
Looks like a Silvertip knot. A word of caution, eshave knots have a very poor reputation for falling apart. On the other hand, those brushes usually sell for $40-60, so you got a good deal on the handle alone, never mind the knot. Nice shave stick holder. Do the initials engraved on it match yours?
A Ive tried both. It seems the blade cartridge hangs up on something during the feeding stroke. The blade is ejected about 1/2 way and then an abrupt stop. It will feed one blade at a time with the cratridge removed. I havent tried the guts from the B1 in the B2 yet see if I can narrow down the issue.
Thanks for the heads up on the brush - I'll play carefully with it No, the initials unfortunately doesn't match mine so I'll treat them as decoration
Received a Wilkinson Sword Bonded. It was originally sold in Portugal. I am still a bit vague on if this or the Gillette Trac II was the first cartridge razor. I believe both came out in 1971 but I've seen different takes on which one came out first. It might well be that Wilkinson was the first cartridge razor..and the Trac II was the first multi-blade cartridge razor.
Two vintage @clint64 Restores arrived recently. My NOS Ever Ready 100T with a Frank Shaving Pur-Tech 24 X 48mm. Thanks for bringing this one 'Back From The Grav'. Also another beautiful brush by the "Master of the 400". A Rubberset 400 No Number with El Druida Manchurian 24 X 53mm. Thank you my friend.
