How long does a tub of shaving cream typically last you?

I just started DE shaving right after last Christmas. I was just curious how long a tub (around 5oz) lasts you. I shave every day and do 3 passes and it lasts me around 4 months. I sometimes use a little too much, but that seems to be the going rate for me? How do you compare?

I go through it a little faster than you but I have hard water. Using more product helps compensate for that. Also, I usually use a little cream/soap for my prep routine. I let some lather sit on my beard for a few minutes then rinse, reapply some more and shave.

I worked my way through a tub of Razorock XXX, shaving everyday, in just short of 10 weeks.

Even after a few years of DE shaving i dont think id be able to answer this very well....ive never used a product everyday...i dont even shave everyday...and a few times a year ill grow a beard. So tough for me to accurately know how long something has lasted

A tub of Proraso last me around 6 months. Creams go a lot faster it seems.

I had my first shave with my Proraso Green on 3 May of 2012. I can count 70 shaves that I have had with it and I still cannot see the bottom. The only shave soap I have actually finished is VDH Deluxe which lasted about three months. I was using it almost exclusively when I first began wet shaving. The Proraso comes up every 20 shaves now that I have so many soaps and creams. The only other soap that I am close to finishing is Col. Conk Bay Rum that I got back in June of 2012. I got to the bottom of the tub and stuck it in the microwave for a few seconds and it melted, covering the bottom with about a quarter of an inch or so of soap, so, I still have a ways to go with it. I could probably go another five years or more without buying any more soap or creams.

    1. You can never use too much product unless it's hair gel or pomade
    2. If a tub of soap lasts you less than 6 months to a year, you don't have enough soaps in your rotation

    :D

Depends on how much you use per shave. My tub of TOBS lasts about 5 to 6 months.

    One shave...

...I wish it were just one shave or one day. I have a two pots waiting to be opened but I have a sadistic rule of only using one tub at a time!

    A tub lasts ages!

I fall into this. I do not know how long a tub lasts. I have narrowed my soap/cream stash to around 20. Rotating weekly that means I use a soap/cream roughly 2-3 weeks per year. At this pace I do not finish creams/soaps too often. The problem is that they are all my favorites. It kind of pains me to let one go. :)

That's the key word for me-rotation. I'm probably unqualified to answer the thread question, as I like to vary my shaving creams. (I know it's about tubs).

Four months is about right. But I suspect 95% of the product is wasted. That's a staggering sum. But try this. Tomorrow lather up and shave as usual. Then instead of rinsing your brush squeegee it into a cereal bowl and set it on the counter. Next day lather from the cereal bowl and repeat. I bet you can get a week or two out of a days wasted soap. Consider it an experiment in consumption vs use.

The only singular soap I ever used was a Williams puck. It lasted for years and years. Then I met THESE guys..
