First ever DE shave today, because I could not wait any longer. Be kind with the components used, I am still receiving items.

    Gillette Black Beauty
    Big Bend Super Stainless Blade
Fingers to spread the Gillette Can Shaving Cream (cringe..)
    Every Man Jack Aftershave Lotion

I was very nervous that I was going to butcher my face, but ultimately was pleasantly surprised with the ease of learning. In a single WTG pass, maybe a little overlap, I was able to achieve a closer, more comfortable shave than I have ever gotten with Mach 3 Cart without going ATG which has always caused me irritation. Started with the grain to learn angles and pressure and a few XTG to touch up a few areas. Eventually I will aim to do a 3 cut which I imagine will be great, but also more potential for things to go sideways.

Still looking and reading as to what I am going for the first brush and soap or cream, and post shave treatment.

How does the adjustment work on the BB? I assume the lower numbers are a safer shave as it appears the blade is bent down more to curve with the head, as the higher numbers look to be a straighter angle with less "protection"

Congratulations on your first successful shave ;)

And yes - lower numbers equal less aggressive blade.

    SHAVE OF THE DAY
    sotd75.jpg

    PREP: MUSGO REAL OAKMOSS
    RAZOR: 1953 GILLETTE TECH
    BLADE: RAPIRA RED
    BRUSH: FINE ANGEL HAIR SYNTHETIC
SOAP: GUSTAFSON WOODLANDS/ MUSGO REAL SOAP
    POST: CHISELED FACE CINAWOOD BOROKA

Was having a hard time lathering the Gustafsons soap today. It looked like a nice lather but It disappeared way to fast. I will have to try again some other time, so I did 1 pass with it then switched to Musgo Real soap which I knew wouldn't be a problem. It just reminded me how much I love the Musgo shaving soap (at least the newer version) and the rest of the shave was a breeze. Finished with Cinawood Boroka. Hope everyone has a great shave and a great day!!

    Morning shave
    Hot Shower
Soap: Barrister & Mann Diamond Shave Soap

    Razor: Gillette Goodwill
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
    TSD Witch Hazel
    Aftershave: Old Spice 1967

I used GSBs during my two-month training regimen and appreciated their smooth, comfortable dependability. Same result today. If I ever do an extended period of shaving with this razor, GSB would be the top blade candidate.

    World Series Travel Day
Today “travel day” means a day off for the players with a relatively quick jet flight of about three and a half hours - KC to NYC. But it wasn’t always that way.

As with the history of transportation, baseball leagues owes its growth to the growth of the rail system from the late-1870s until the mid-1950s. Roads and bus travel didn’t come until the 1930s/40s for short trips. Regular air travel in the mid-1950s led to cross-country expansion in baseball.

For over 75 years, baseball teams did their traveling by train.

Players like Harry “The Hat” Walker, Phil Rizzuto and Eddie Matthews described the rails as the very best way to travel because of the camaraderie it helped build among teammates. They would hold “bull sessions” to talk baseball, learn what made each other tick and be better for it on the field. Coaches kept tabs on their players and sportswriters were able to cover teams more extensively as they traveled long distances with them on the same passenger cars.

The boom in baseball leagues owes itself to regular train travel. During that time, game times would be set to correspond to train schedules. A trip from St. Louis to New York would take over 24 hours. So World Series teams at opposite geographical locations may have 2 days of true travel time, while an intercity “subway” Series would just be played one day after another until finished.

Friday's shaving plans with another new soap:

    Stirling Pre-Shave Soap :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/Derby day 5
    Matas SS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:
    Krampert's Bay Rum AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:

Although I haven't done a test-lather with this new soap from Denmark I can tell that I'm going to really love it. Does it ever smell nice and I saw a You Tube video with a gentleman in the UK shaving with it and it seemed to be giving awesome lather and performance. The pre-shave soap from Rod is absolutely wonderful - it leaves my skin so clean and ready for a great shave. Brian's Bay Rum aftershave is the living end - does it ever smell beautiful, and does it ever give wonderful skincare. ;) :D

A fantastic weekend to all in advance! :)

    ZCOLDWATER.jpg

    Dove Men Face Wash
    Williams Mug Shaving Soap
    Jayaruh #27 Silver Tip
    Merkur 15c OC/Gillette Super Speed* 1947 BYR
    Personna SS
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Pinaud Vegetal

The Williams Mug Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #27 Silver Tip brush. First pass with my Merkur 15c Open Comb razor with a Personna Super blade followed by second pass with the Gillette Aristocrat (1947 Birth Year Razor) gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Lilac Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    SOTD Thursday night (for Friday)

Razor: Gillette ball end LC New
    Blade: Astra SP
    Brush: Semogue 1320
    Soap: Caties Bubbles Ocean Grove
    As: TBD

Another tough shave with the LC. I love the SC, but the LC seems VERY aggressive to me. I don't really understand the point of the longer combs. They don't really come into play. I made a concerted effort to use a shallow angle but it still was an unpleasant shave. Very close, but no fun.
