I've cleaned a lot of razors with it and it does a great job forgoing all of the cleaning chemicals that might damage plating etc.

    Sure is Nice.
I hope mine turns out like that.
I soaked in hot water and Dawn for 30 minutes. Then scrubbed it with my Wife's toothbrush. Not really. Have it cycling in the US cleaner now.
I am going to try the Baking soda and Aluminum foil trick to see how that works for removing tarnish. Will post pictures when done.
Redfisher aren't these things the coolest. Are you going to shave with it soon?

So here it is all cleaned up. Turned out better than expected. Loaded in 5 blades and it cycles smooth as silk.
Trying to decide if I want to try shaving with it tonight.[IMG] [IMG]

There is an E2 Canada model on the Bay now. Buy it now $39.99 + $9 shipping with a case. Or make offer. Looks like it will clean up nice.
Just a heads up to anybody who might be interested.
Let us know if somebody scores it.

The one I have here is not a Canadian Type E 2 variant ....Mine is a sometimes referred to a Canadian Type E 5 which does not have any lugs on the side of the spring the same as the Type E 4 & Type G s...The Canadian Type E 2 with a Black Handle is a rare bird as well of course but it wont be as aggressive as this one....;)

I had my first shave with a lather catcher today. It's a beautiful 1902 Kampfe Star with the Y teeth for a comb. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it gave a very smooth, great shave. Not a lot of audible feedback but very easy to use. :happy088:

What a beautiful piece of history.....were you using new blade spines for shims?

    Well my search has ended.

For all of you who were so concerned about my quest to find a PAL InjectoMatic, or were the snipers who picked me off from equipment you now own (cough...Karl....cough, cough....Roger...cough);), and through the help of
Lead Scout BillyF, I have secured the Grail!

Through extensive negotiation with another fine bloke in the UK, (a seller on the UK Bay), the coveted one below is now whisking its way across the pond to its new home. (photos from the seller below.) He claims it has never been used, we'll see.

So happy to have joined the club, even though a few of you really made me work for it! :angry032:

    Cheers!

    Thanks.
I am going to take it for a test run tonight. Last night giving it a final once over. I noticed that the bar was slightly bent down on 1 side. So i took it to work and straightened it. The slot is 3/32 (.093). The other side was (.085).
I put a .093 plug gage on the good side then gently clamped that, leaving the side that was pushed in exposed. I then began inserting larger gage pins into the pushed in side until i got it to measure (.093). It had about (.007) spring to it.
Looks good now. Nice even blade exposure. I did not want to tear the brass. I went really slow.

Yes, I pulled off some spines from some used GEMs I had. I kept one full and pressed it flat and split off half on another. The full spine shim and one half spine shim were then pushed in a bit under the blade to make it snug. It was super easy and worked great. :chores016:

The thought that went through my mind more than once was that we had it right over 100 years ago yet still have had countless variations since then. ;)
