I am in a bit of a quandary though. I was going through the adjustments on my executive and realized nothing was happening. It previously adjusted fine but this time nothing changed. It is like it got stuck somehow. :(

I currently have it soaking in really hot water with Dawn detergent thinking some grime or something may have gotten stuck and not letting it move freely. If I can't get it working then I will be sending it off for a tune up. I also receive the Nationwide box tour box tomorrow so maybe it will have some fun stuff for November.

In other words my kit is not set for the month, and it will likely be a very last minute decision. :signs002:

Hmmmm... You need to post on the safety razor forum and let the vintage ninjas see if they can help.

No, Mark posted a yawn, so I posted a "you know you wanna come play." I believe it's called good natured taunting, if I understood his symbolism. Or, I am the confused one. Cool Dog though!

I figured. :happy088: Just thought I would take the opportunity to throw my mutt in. Lol. This is also her waiting for me to throw the ball pose when we play inside while it is raining. So I can claim it just adds support to your come on and play.

mineral oil to loosen it perhaps, if detergent fails?

Will give it a try. It really is like the whole piece just seized up. It still clicks through the adjustments so hoping something is just preventing the plate from moving as it should.

The past 6 months on the 30DC has been a great way for this newbie to learn how to shave. I've learned the best rule I can - technique trumps tools.

So having acquired some new equipment, this will be a great way to acquire the proper technique with it.

    Razor: Mongoose B3
    Blades: Feather Artist Club Professional
    Soap: Saponificio Varesino Manna
    Brush: Omega 31025 Scarlatti Boar

    Razor/Blade
The Mongoose will be my first non-vintage razor and paired with a blade that I took an initial shave with last week, just to make sure it was comfortable enough to work with for a month.

    Soap/Brush
I was advised by some Mongoose fans that this razor seems to work best with well-hydrated soaps. I love the scent of this soap that I've used only about half a dozen times. I have yet to build a super rich later with it, so it may fit the bill. It is a hard, triple-milled soap, so I paired it with a brush that is advertised as being great with hard soaps. We'll find out.

Looking forward to spending another month with you technique junkies!

Just received my new Progress yesterday and shaved with it this morning. Tried a GSB in it this morning on setting 3. A little irritation on the neck. Will try a Astra SP tomorrow and a Astra SS on Saturday. Will chose a blade Sunday and go from there.
Will be using TOBS Grapefruit and my Asylum brush. Looking forward to getting to know the Progress!

Focus on technique is a great idea.
It is something I need, being a 5-month noob.
Using a Feather early on felt more like carving a totem than shaving a face.

I will weaken and try the 2 Gillette razors arriving this weekend. Three razors total - dang, I have contracted RAD.

Well, I guess I'm settled on a setup. I'll be shaving in spirit with Vince, getting to know the Mongoose with Feather Professional blades. I'm going to put down my beloved Kong in favor of the Omega Pro 49, who's been neglected lately. I'm going to set aside my usual Stirling and Soap Commander favorites and use the Shave Den Floid Blue type. I thought about using the Fat all month, but I have had trouble getting the slickness the Mongoose needs so I'll save the Mitchell's for another focus. See you all in November where I'll reach the half century mark on the 17th.
