Thank you. I have always admired the Aristocrats but was unsure of its aggressiveness.

The Tabac Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #27 Silver Tip brush. Two passes with my Gillette Super Adjustable razor and an Astra Super Platinum blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. The Gillette Super Adjustable was a gift from @Dzia Dzia . It performed flawlessly. First pass on 5 and second pass on 7. It has great balance. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... What a great combination I chose for No Variation November. I am going to have some great shaves.

Better get used to this picture. No Variation November has started.

Tabactober- last shave for a month
I don't know how I'm going to last all of November without shaving. It's strange how I've come to love this ritual with the same level of passion with which I one hated it.
I had to wrap up October with Tabac. It was s good shave, not the usual optimal one - I thought if I slowed down I would savor it more, but instead I got sloppy and a nick or two. All is well now. Nice finish with B&M Kyovu Bay Rum.

    OCtober - Trick or TREET
    October 31

    Razor - Gillette '46-'47 Aristocrat
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Brush - Omega Pro 48
    Soap - Proraso Green Tub
Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea Original

Last day of the month and it's a cold, rainy and spooky one! As it should be. Decided to finish Russian so grabbed the Aristocrat and dug out a Rapira PL I used during the Tournament of Blades. It lost in the first round so this will be its second shave. The PL is one I usually like pretty well. One of the platinum blades that my face actually doesn't mind having around. And, as a final "free shave" before NOVember I got the Pro 48 and Proraso together for a great aromatic lather. Only did two passes as the blade seemed a bit rough, which makes me think this may actually be its 3rd shave. Anyway, not perfect but I wasn't looking for that. Two passes to a DFS, Alum wasn't too hot and I used the Nivea to condition everything before heading out in the cold and wet to do my thing.

First stop today - the post office where my Wolf Whiskers brush was waiting for me. You can check out the pics of it in the Brushes forum. Hope you all have a haunting and enjoyable night. Don't let the werewolves bite!

    Sunday's Swedish-style shave:

    Stirling Pre-Shave Soap :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/Derby day 7
    Grön Lycka SS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:
    Hega AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:

This Grön Lycka soap arrived yesterday (Friday) and just before I test-lathered it with very satisfying results. The scent is very pleasant - it seems to be a lemony/lavender type, and the lather is very easy to work up. I also find it to be very moisturizing and skin-friendly. Since the discontinuation of a couple of fantastic shaving sticks a long time ago, I'm happy to see that Sweden started to produce some soaps again. The Hega aftershave is also Swedish - there used to be an excellent matching shaving stick, but it's no longer available since many years. This aftershave has a nice, neutral scent which never disrupts the scent of an eau de toilette or a cologne. ;) :D

Interesting question. I've been spoiled by the Aristocrat and even the British Rocket so now I throw in the heaviest of the Super Speed's, and what's supposed to be the most aggressive the Red Tip. The Red Tip performed flawless, what was so great about my shave was the lather from Chiseled Face Sherlock!

Decided that I need to step up and use my straights and going to take the 30 day challenge in November and using just my straights. Have 7 in the den and two sat unopened four months from the gentleman I purchased them from so sent them off two weeks ago to be honed and one of those is the Imp 133 that will used for Sundays Shave. Have always been a little apprehensive with using straights especially around my chin area but actually looking forward to the 30 day challenge. Good thing I have plenty of alum block in house and I use to be a Navy Corpsman and that experience has come in handy from time to time.

Razor: Red Imp 133 11/16 Full Hollow spike point
    Brush: Savile Row 3326
    Bowl: Buffalo Horn 5”
    Pre Shave Scrub: RazoRock GLO
Pre Shave Oil: Homemade Jasmine Orange Vanilla
Shave Soap: Beaver WoodWright Barnacle Bob
    Post: Monster Alum Block
    Aftershave: Extro Bay Rum Artigianale

    OCtober Wrap-up

    Gillette New LC
    Feather blade (3)
    Semogue 830
    Trumper's Coconut
    Two passes
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel and unrefined shea butter

I completed my OCtober focus today. It primarily consisted of getting to know my Gillette New LC. It has become my favorite razor, providing consistently great two-pass shaves. I attribute an occasional nick or weeper to operator error. The Gun-Kote makes it super easy to clean. I didn't notice any additional glide as a result of the coating on the top cap.

I used two different brushes (Kent BK4 and Semogue 830) and three soaps/creams (Arko, TSD lanolin unscented, and Trumper's Coconut). Any combination of brush and either soap or cream yielded a good lather. I noticed a significant improvement in my lather using really soft water while on a trip to Florida during the month. I can't really pick a favorite combo here. Each brush, soap, or cream has different attributes, and I plan to keep them all in my rotation.

I used a variety of aftershaves, including Trumper's Coral Skin Food, Alt Innsbruck, Captain's Choice Bay Rum, Fine L’Orange Noir, and Fine Platinum. This adds some variety to the daily routine without losing the benefits of a monthly focus.

    Have a great weekend!
