Nov 4 focus shave 4 I had some trouble with Mike's the last shave but it was good enough to move up for the straight razor test. To give the soap it's best chance I used my Omegao Pro, it will lather almost any hard soap. This time I spent more time loading the brush and that improved things. Sometimes the lather was slick and like yogurt and sometimes thin and bubble. I did four passes with my round point Hart, a mild shaver for a straight but I still had two weepers. The shave felt a little rough and the alum test resulted in some stinging but not allot. The shave was DFS but not near BBS territory. This shave should have been better but I attribute the irritation and lack of closeness to the lather. Mike's will go back into the drawer and just be used occasionally for a DE shave or travel. Today I realized that had I known what I was doing the first time around with a Utopia, I might never have tried other razors. The more of these thirty day exercises I do, the more confused I become about which razor is my fave.
I have tried to narrow it down myself several times thinking I need to find that one golden setup and stick with it. Then the AD's start up and I lose my resolve. The only one that keeps proving itself as the best in my collection is the Aristocrat with a couple of others trying hard to knock it off the top of the hill.
