Gratz. I love my Silvertip New Forest. The jury is still out on my Best by New Forest as it didn't feel/perform as outstanding as the silvertip did. His handles are fantastic.
Just got the email from Peter at Wolf Whiskers that he had turned the handle I had picked. Here are "a few" photos showing it off - this one I can't wait to get. I really like how it came out!! Peter was amazing to to deal with in helping me get exactly the brush I wanted Specs: Handle Shape: Custom DWW-3 (no top grooves) Handle Material: Faux Tortoise Knot: TGN Finest 22m, 2 band, set @48mm
Thanks, I really love how it came out. Shows that you don't have to pay over $100 - even these days - for a fully custom US hand-made brush - including knot and shipping
The one I recieved in similar condition cleaned up nicely and I expect this one will too. The blade guard on this model is susceptible to bending and may need to be tweeked. Always a great score when you can find a diamond in a razor lot....
I own two New Forest Tubby's and they both have fantastic high quality knots. If you don't like it, I will gladly take it off your hands for what you paid for it. I think I saw this one for sale but was too late....
There were several pictures and the blade guard looked to be ok. I took a pass on another cheap one that had the bent guard. I'll post pics when I get it.
Cost depends a bit on the material but mostly the knot. I splurged and paid an additional $14 for the Faux Tortoise material and I could have gone for a cheaper knot as well. In the end it came to be about $95 including shipping.
New here and to de shaving using a novice vdh razor now waiting on a razorock bazooka wanted a handle with more girth to it hope it fits the bill.
Did you get that from Fido's recent clear out, or from another source? Anyways, I always wanted a Tubby, but have been a day late and dollar short every time. I have his Finest 20mm, looks like the same hair as yours, so if you are looking for good backbone, soft tips and a small amount of scritch, this might become your favorite brush. I also have one of his Persian Jar silvertips. If you end up not liking the Tubby, I could probably bring myself to trade brushes with you.
Looking at your photo, the guard is different than mine and not as likely to bend. The guard on my B1 is a tee shape and mounted by a center attachment, where yours is attached on the ends, similar to my B2.
I bought it off a guy on Shave Nook's buy and sell sub-forum. 60 bucks incl shipping to Norway, didn't negotiate. Reasonable? Seems to have cost 40-50 GBP new from Fido. Will keep your offer in mind. I do hope that I like it, though
