Just found your forums this evening whilst looking for information on a couple of DE razors. I'm not new to the joys of wetshaving, having used soap, mug and brush for most of my shaving years (since 1982). Up until a few years ago, I collected and used DE's, but went to the dark side and started using a muck3. About a year ago I went to pick up blades and decided that buying blades (4 for 15.00) was rediculous. Not finding the DE blades, I started searching for information on shaving with a straight razor. I found straight razor place and had one of the gentlemen there hone one of my straights. At that time I had 2 straights, a dubl duck that had been honed so many times there wasn't much left, and an old Geo. Wostenholm and Son IXL. In a short year I have picked up 2 new brushes, 10 straight razors with one more on the way, more shaving cream than I 'need' and 2 strops. Shaving is addicting. My other hobbies, when I'm not obsessing over my razor collection, are: Genealogy, Camping, Ham Radio, playing guitar, working on my web page and collecting/using walking canes. My favorite aftershaves are Old Spice origional, and Masters Bay Rum. I also am addicted to Lucky Tiger hair tonic. I am diabetic, having lost an eye to it in 92 at the age of 29. I am currently trying to obtain my disability, due to a freak bicycle accident that left me using a cane. That's about all I can think of, if you have any questions for me please feel free to ask.
Welcome to The Shave Den! Have you any canes to show? Sounds like an interesting hobby! I have always been fascinated by silver handled walking canes...
Actually, I haven't made any pics of them lol. My two favorites are one from Ireland that is made from irish blackthorne, and one I made that has rabbit fur, a few feathers and a pipe head for the handle, it looks just like a super long peace pipe when held level. (My Dr took one look at it and asked if I smoked it or used it to walk with lol). I do smoke a pipe on occasion, but this one is just for walking.
LOL that's cool. After my accident I had to cut my pipe smoking down, right now I smoke one or two bowls every 6 months, which stinks, but there's not much I can do about it lol. Something went wrong and I developed breathing probs after surgery.
Welcome to The Shave Den, Tony! Good to have you with us. There are a number of diabetics here as well as shaving "collectors" (but then, aren't we all?). Hope you enjoy it here! Love your handlebar!! :happy088
Thanks guys! yeah, the stach is my pride and joy . Had a funny happen last haloween, went to the grocery store and was wearing my eye patch, had my stasch waxed and this lady and her 3 or 4 year old passed in front of me. The mother didn't bat an eye, whe was on a mission lol. The kid was sitting in the cart looking around, he see's me and does a double take. I could hear him as they disappeared down the aisle......"Mommy! Mommy! a PIRATE! a PIRATE!! Look Mommy!!" I try not to dwell to much on my health probs, can't forget them totally lol, but there's too much other things I can do that keeps me busy. I'm trying to get set up to re-scale a wapi and possibly a wade and butcher in the near future (probably the IXL I just picked up on ebay as well). All the Acquisition Disorders that come along with shaving are enough to keep one busy lol. I've picked up RAD, SMAD (Shaving Mirror), SAD (soap), MAD (mug) BAD and willl probably find a few more to add to it as I go along.
Welcome to The Shave Den, freebird! I'm a diabetic also, and have been dealing with my own eye issues lately. :ashamed001
Thanks for the warm welcome! I do enjoy the board,, maybe it's because everyone has some form of A.D. which just makes it seem comfortable.
Hahahahahaha.....misery loves company.....although, I don't think any of us are miserable. That was really funny
if we were miserable it would be more like an AA meeting lol. ..."Hi, my name is Tony, and I have A.D."
